Evaluation Question 3
What have I learnt from my audience feedback?
Video Pitch from Planning Stages These words represent
what people liked about
our ideas.
They mainly highlighted
that our location was perfect for our type of music.
The words below represent
what people thought we
needed to include, and the
main point that was
presented to us was the idea of having an image motif.
Did we respond to their ideas? YES. We decided that we needed to make our
brand identity stronger. Therefore we decided to use her guitar, buttons and ribbon as part of our image motif. We therefore used the guitar as a main focus in the video as well as on the ancillary tasks.
Showcasing our Music Video We asked the following questions and we received
some very interesting results:1. What is particularly convincing in the music video
The majority of people said that the most convincing part of the video was the Location as it fit the genre of music.
Our actor related to them apparently, which is brilliant as this is what we wanted to create.
Someone stated that the emotions were conveyed well through the video.
2. Did the genre/style of music seem to match the visuals?
Many people liked the long fades as it fitted the slow nature of the video
3. Was the use of camera angles and editing successful? Why? Why not?
Many people said yes due to the number of different shot types.
5. Did the video sustain your interest throughout? If so, how?
Through the use of many different types of shots.
Someone said that the rewinding section at the end pulled the whole film together and made it exciting
We had a suggestion that we needed something a bit more exciting in it.
6. What would you change about the music video?
People suggested that a bit more lip syncing would have of made it better.
The person that said that we need to make it more exciting suggested that we could have of used another location.
Positive and Negative Feedback We were very pleased about people liking the
ending of the video. This was because we were unsure whether the rewinding of the film would work. We were unsure whether people would understand why we were doing this. They seemed to understand which was great.
We were disappointed that some people found it uninteresting and not very exciting. But we were thinking that surely the video wouldn't be exciting due to the nature of the music?
Expected and Unexpected Answers We kind of expected people to like the
location as it was very striking and an important part of the video.
Also that people liked our editing, this is because we had carefully planned what transitions to use to make the video fit the genre of music.
We were no expecting people to find it uninteresting as we thought that we had made it quite interesting to try and make the music stand out.
What would we change? I think we would have of increased the amount of
lip syncing that we used. Also maybe tried a few more locations to make
the film more interesting considering some people did not find it interesting!
What are we pleased with? How well the video overall fits the genre of music. Our editing as it again fits the genre of music. The fact that people understood our video and
that people related to it. This showed us that our target audience was correct.
