Masthead along the top

Layout: •USE I have used the same position for my masthead as they have on Top of the pops. I did this because as it is at the top of the cover and quite big it makes it stand out more. I also thought that if I used the same positioning it would make it look more professional. I have also USED the fashion section on my cover page and have positioned it to the left side near the middle which is how top of the pops have put it.• DEVELOP I have changed the position of the barcode on my magazine as I thought it would look better in the bottom left hand corner than slightly over to the right. I have also DEVELOPED where the issue number and date are and put them at the top under my tag line as I think they will be more noticeable up there.•CHALLENGE I have added music notes at the top of my magazine instead of naming artists that are included as I thought it looked good above the masthead and because I have used some artists names in my cover lines and I didn’t want to make it too repetitive. I have also CHALLENGED it by adding a competition section as I thought that if the audience knew they had a chance of winning something it might attract them to buy it. Also if the prize is something that interests them then they are more likely to get it. Colour:•DEVELOP I have developed the colours by sticking to using bright colours like top of the pops to make it fit in with the genre and have stuck to the 3 colour rule where possible like top of the pops have.•CHALLENGE I have used a bright blue colour for the background which adds to the brightness of the magazine to make it stand out more unlike the top of the pops one which is white and more simpler.

Photographs:• USE My model and the model on top of the pops are both wearing a dress which shows the more formal

side to it.• DEVELOP I have used a different pose to on the cover of top of the pops and also the models facial

expression is different as on top of the pops she doesn’t look happy so I decided to go for the happy look on the cover as it fits with the cover line for it and might attract the audience to it more.

Story:• USE I have put my main cover line in a circle and made it really big using a variety of fonts, This is set out like

on top of the pops.• DEVELOP I have also put all my other cover lines in some sort of box, using a variety of shapes for this

whereas top of the pops have left some not in a box.Fonts:• DEVELOP My font sizes are slightly smaller than on top of the pops but we have both used a variety of

different fonts that suit the genre. I also thought with the size I used fit in well with the layout as I didn’t want it to be too big so you couldn’t see the pictures that go with them.

Image of group

Layout:• USE I have put the header at the top of the contents page just like top of the pops has. I used the same font as I

did for the masthead on the cover page so people can recognise its from the same magazine. I have also USED the picture of the cover page idea on my contents page with numbers relating to the different stories coming off it. I did this because I really liked the idea of it. I have also positioned it under the header on the left side just like top of the pops has done.

• DEVELOP I have developed the idea of the boxes for the different sections and used them to put my own sections in, I think this is a really good way of displaying the contents as you can categorise it so people can find what they're looking for easier.

• CHALLENGE I have made my magazine look different by adding images of makeup. I have also not put them in a box whereas on the top of the pops magazine they have put the images of a purse and bracelet inside the section box.

Colour:• I have DEVELOPED the colours of the magazine compared to top of the pops, However I have stuck to colours to

represent the genre of it and have also used the same colours as on the cover page just to make the magazine look consistent throughout and more recognisable.

Story:• CHALLENGE I have challenged the top of the pops magazine by using different headings for each section and also

by creating my own contents with page numbers.

Fonts:• I have used a main font throughout the contents page, I used this for the actual contents listed itself. I used a font

called Popstar autograph for this as its quite fancy but still readable. I used a more plain and simple font for the page numbers as I thought it might stand out . I also made the font slightly bigger and used a bold colour.

Title

Interview

Layout:• USE I have used the page number idea which is at the bottom of the page in a shape. I used a similar shape but decided to make

mine stick to the genre style of being brightly coloured. I have also USED the idea of having an image that is bigger than the other images on there just to show variation in size and also it represents that she is the leader of the group. I also set it out so both magazines have a picture on the right hand side.

Colours:• Yet again I have stuck to and DEVELOPED the colour rule which makes my magazine consistent throughout and easily recognisable

as ‘Music Madness’. Once again I used the bright colours to suit the genre and to make it stand out to people.

Photographs:• I have DEVELOPED the images by using different poses in mine compared to top of the pops magazine.• I have also CHALLENGED it by using female models instead of a male one. I also CHALLENGED it by adding more images onto mine.

Story:• I have USED and DEVELOPED my story by keeping it in the style of and interview and creating a different set of questions and

answers.• I also USED the quote idea as it can draw attention to the whole article and make people want to read more of it. Also it can pick

out some key information that may be interesting.

Fonts:• I have used Times new roman for the interview part of the article and put it at a size 12 as I didn’t want it too big or too small.

However I did use just a plain simple text for the title and made it big compared to the rest of the writing so it stands out and tells you what the articles all about.
