EVALUATION QUESTION 4: HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION & RESEARCH, PLANNING & EVALUATION STAGES?

Page 2: Evaluation question 4

Throughout the whole process of creating my music video, digipak and magazine advert, I have used a variety of media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages. The first form of media technology I used is ‘Blogger’. This is a website where you can create a blog and group discussions or discussion on a topic is made. Blogger is used for sharing texts, photos and videos and so it can literally be used for anything. I have created a blog for my media project, blogger has been used throughout the whole process, it has been used in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages. I have used blogger to start of my whole project, it was first used to research music videos, digipaks and magazine adverts and then after I finished researching, I used blogger to upload all my planning, for example, I uploaded my story board, props and equipment list, details of the days I filmed etc. I have also used blogger to upload my evaluation of my whole project.

For the construction and research of my project I have used many different media technologies’, these include, YouTube and slideshare. I used YouTube for much of the research, I used it to search for different music videos and example of other A2 music videos. I used slideshare to convert PowerPoint’s and so that they can be embedded onto my blog.

For the planning process of my project, I used a number of different media technologies, these were, Slideshare, Scribd, YouTube, Photoshop, Final cut express, DSLR camera and a Sony HD video camera, Scrapblog, Prezi and Goanimate.

In the process of actually making my music video I used a high quality Sony HD video camera, we used this camera for most of our filming, this was a good camera to use as it was a high quality camera and the outcome of the video was good, we did not have any scenes where it was too dark or the footage was grainy. We also used a small red camera to film the scenes in the park, this camera is not as good as the DSLR but the outcome of the footage was fine and we had no problem. When we had finished filming and started editing we used final cut express to edit our music video. We used final cut express by editing together different scenes using transitions such as dissolve and editing techniques such as split screen and fast cutting. We also used it to add effects such as black and white effects and to add in backgrounds, such as the starry background show in the screenshots below. When making my digipak and magazine advert I used the media technology Photoshop. I used this to import photos and edit them. I then created my magazine advert and magazine advert using the photo(s) I had imported.

I have used a range of different media websites to create my work and upload to my blog. I have used goanimate which is a website where you can create animated videos, I create an animated video which discussed what digipak and magazine advert we had picked to represent our group. I used goanimate because it was an interesting and creative way of explaining what magazine advert and digipak we chose and why.I use the websites slideshare and scribd which are very much similar to each other. These are where you can upload PowerPoint’s and word documents into a format which can be embedded into my blog. I use these websites so that my work is more structured on my blog.

I have used scrapblog and prezi which are again similar to each other as they are a form of presentations but they are different in their own way. I have used these to make creative presentations of my work, for example, I made a prezi presentation on the final digipak and magazine advert we chose and I made a scrapblog on how I made my digipak. With both of these media websites I can upload pictures to my presentations.

I have again used ‘YouTube’ in the planning process, I have used the website to upload videos which include our rough cut video and our lip-syncing practice video. I then embedded these videos, with the URL provided by YouTube onto my blog, where my YouTube videos were then viewable on my blog.

In the evaluation stages I have again used a range of media technologies, most which I have already used in the planning and research stages. I have used slideshare to upload a presentation onto my blog, I have used scribd to upload my evaluation question one word document onto my blog, I have also used scribd to upload a word document of pictures which represent the codes and conventions of a music video. I have again used prezi to create a presentation where it zooms into certain texts that I want it to and I can add images. We used a flip cam to film our target audience reaction when watching our music video and to interview some of our target audience, we then uploaded these videos to Youtube and then embedded our youtube videos onto our blogs. We also used surveymonkey, a website to create questionnaires, and created a questionnaire for our target audience to fill out so that we could get feedback on our music video. Our target audience had to click a link which led them to the surveymonkey website where they complete our questionnaire.
