I had to use layers all throughout making the media product. By duplicating and adding new layers, it means that you can delete things without deleting anything else

The spot healing tool does exactly as the name suggests, it removes the spots or blemishes from someone’s skin just by clicking on it

The magic wand tool selects everything that has the same colour to where you clicked. You can then alter the selected area. It is useful for getting rid of backgrounds if the image has been taken against a solid colour wall.

The quick select tool does the same as the magic wand tool, however you can manually choose where the tool selects. It is more accurate than the magic wand but takes more time.

The text tool places a text box wherever you click. You can then type in the invisible text box.

Using effects is important to the presentation of a magazine. If all the text had no effects and was just one solid colour, it would not look appealing at all. I used effects on all of my texts. The top images are the text with effects, whereas the bottom are the text without effects. As you can see, there is a drastic improvement when the text does has effects and looks much more appealing.

As you can see here, the text all goes above the artist. This still looks fine, however to add more depth to the magazine front cover, I felt like I had to make my artist go over the masthead, however stay behind the feature stories.

This is clearly a big improvement as it just adds much more depth to the cover. However when his arm went over the ‘M’, it looked strange so I Photoshopped it so that his arm goes through the ‘M’ instead of on top of it.

The camera I used to take all of my images is a Sony a5000. It is a HD camera so all my images came out very good quality. These images were good enough for my magazine.

As you can see here, the preview section of the camera can flip up so that the person on who is being captured can see a preview of what it will look like. This was very useful as my artists could see where they needed to stand to be in the centre of the frame. It also meant they could alter themselves to take a good image
