In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? - CoverIn order to make sure that my magazine looked professional, I wanted to stick to the convention layout of a front cover and magazine as much as possible. I did this by including on main image on the front cover, instead of many different pictures, as well as a barcode in the bottom right corner. In terms of my masthead I challenged the forms of convention by placing it at the bottom of the page rather than the top. I did this to give my magazine cover a more unique look. In terms of the image used on the front cover, I used the most popular picture voted by my target audience. The main colour that I used on the cover was green as this was one of the most popular colours and it is the school colour. I also tried to use gender neutral colours on the cover so that it would not look as though it was completely aimed at girls.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? – Contents Page
On my contents page, I wanted it to look neat, organised and professional. To do this I keep the story titles in a neatly spaced list and the images level. I kept the writing on the left hand side, all the same font and same size. I colour coded each line of the contents page to help the reader see which number was for which article. I tried to use a range of colours to make the contents page look interesting, while also mostly using green to match the main colour on the cover page.
