MY TRAILER:

I USED A VARIATION OF SHOT TYPES RANGING FROM OVER THE SHOULDER TO CLOSE UP SHOTS OF THE CHARACTERS.

THE PACE OF THE MUSIC I USED SPEEDS UP TO REFLECT THE CHARACTERS EMOTIONS.

I CHOSE A LOCATION THAT THE DEMOGRAPHIC AUDIENCE COULD RELATE TO, E.G. A RESTAURANT, A HOUSE.

THE COSTUME WE HAVE CHOSEN FOR THE CHARACTERS SHOW THEM TO BE QUITE GLAMOUROUS CHARACTERS FOR EXAMPLE THE GIRLS ALL WEAR SHOES WITH HEELS. WE ALSO HAVE COLOURS THAT ARE INDIVIDUAL TO EACH CHARACTER AS THESE COLOURS REPRESENT AN ASPECT OF THEIR PERSONALITIES E.G. GREEN FOR JEALOUSY, WHITE FOR INNOCENCE ETC.

• Does the combination of sound and images tell the audience how to feel?

The song I chose to use on my trailer is Guilt by Nero.

We felt this song suited our trailer as it helped convey the emotions we wanted to put across.

GUILT: THE NAME OF THE SONGS REFLECT THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE MAJORITY OF CHARACTERS IN TRAILER ARE BASED ON LIE WHICH CREATES TENSION AND GUILT.

Sometimes I don’t know where we're going: DESCRIBES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SAPHIRE AND THOMAS’ RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE OF THEIR ARGUEMENTS.

You try to fake it but you’re breaking every rule: THIS RELATES TO SAPHIRE AND THOMAS’S UNHAPPY RELATIONSHIP BUT ALSO HOW PRESTON IS CHEATING ON PANDORA AND BREAKING HER TRUST.

The guilt you hide will come between us after all: THIS IS REFERING TO THE BREAK DOWN OF PANDORA AND PRESTONS RELATIONSHIP WHEN SHE FINDS OUT ABOUT HIS INFIDELITY.

USEDoes the editing connote the emotions shown in the trailer?

We begin the trailer with slow paced filming and shot types so the audience can establish the storyline and the relationships between the characters.

Once this has been established and the tension builds up in the trailer as we get closer to a dramatic ending with each emotion from the beginning being intensified the editing changes from slow to fast paced.

WE EDITED THE CLIP TO ENSURE THAT THE SLAM OF THE CAR DOOR MATCHED THE BEATS OF THE MUSIC, THIS IS A DEVELOPED IDEA FROM SOAPS SUCH AS EASTENDERS WHICH WOULD NOT USE MUSIC IN THIS WAY.

WE ALSO EDITED THE MUSIC SO THAT ON THE MAJORITY OF OUR SCENE CHANGES IT CHANGES ON A PARTICULAR BEAT OR CHANGE IN THE MUSIC .

I USED LIGHTING TO CREATE A MYSTERIOUS MOOD AS WE WANT THE AUDIENCE TO BE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT WHO THE SECRET SENDER OF THE TEXT IS. THE DARK LIGHTING HELPS TO CONVEY THIS AS WE OFTEN SEE DARKNESS AS A CONNENTATION FOR MYSTERY AND DANGER.

THE CHARACTERS HAIR AND MAKE UP WAS GLAMOUROUS TO SHOW THE CLASS OF THE CHARACTER.

THE CHARACTERS CLOTHING WAS SMART AND CLASSY TO SHOW HER STATUS.

WE ALSO GAVE THE CHARACTERS INDIVIUAL COLOURS TO REFLECT THEIR PERSONALITIES.

DEVELOPNon-diagetic sound- does the sound track add extra meaning? Are sound effects used appropriately?

WE USED A NON-DIAGETIC SOUND OF A CLAP TO MAKE THE SOUND OF THE SLAP ACROSS PANDORA’S FACE WE DID THIS BY HAVING AN OFFSCREEN ACTOR CLAPPING AS THE “FAKE SLAP” TOOK PLACE. THIS ADDED DRAMATIC EFFECT TO THIS SCENE AND MAKES IT FEEL MORE REALISTIC TO THE AUDIENCE.

USE:SIMILARITIES BETWEEN MY TRAILER AND OTHER REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS:

MADE IN CHELSEA: THE EDGE (MY TRAILER):

THE TWO SOAPS ARE SIMILAR IN THE WAY THE ACTORS ARE SHOWING AN AFFECTION TOWARDS EACH OTHER. THIS SUGGESTS SOME KIND OF ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS. ANOTHER SIMILARITY IS THAT IN BOTH TRAILERS THE CHARACTERS ARE WELL PRESENTED AND DRESS WELL WHICH SUGGESTS CLASS/MONEY.

THE TWO SOAPS ARE DIFFERENT IN THE WAY THE ACTORS ARE INTIMATE WITH EACH OTHER. THE CHARACTERS IN MADE IN CHELSEA ARE HAPPY AND LOOK LIKE THEY ARE CONNECTED WHEREAS IN THE CLIP FROM THE EDGE THE CHARACTERS LOOK UNCONNECTED AND DISTANT FROM EACH OTHER.

CHALLENGING REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS:

WE CHALLENGED CONVENTIONS OF PROGRAMMES LIKE MADE IN CHELSEA AS ALTHOUGH THEY DO HAVE A COSTUME FOR THE CHARACTERS, WE TAKE THIS ONE STEP FURTHER AND HAVE GIVEN THEM A COLOUR EACH SO THEY ARE INDENTIFIED WITH THE COLOUR THAT EMOTION REPRESENTS E.G. RED = LUST, DANGER ETC.
