The target audience for my magazine is generally quite large. It is not as large as the mainstream audience but no where near small enough to be labelled as a niche. Therefore, I think it should be distributed on a wider scale in order to reach the full range of my target audience. As the target age of my magazine is 18-24, they tend to be more technologically up to date. As a result of this, I would consider creating an electronic version of my magazine that would be compatible with tablets and smart phones and could be subscribed to by consumers. I think creating an electronic version would be keeping up to date with the current technology and make it easier for consumers to purchase my magazine.

Companies that could distribute my magazine

These three companies all distribute different products but all are aimed at my target audience. BAUER and IPC distribute magazines, in particular Kerrang! and NME target the same audience my magazine would be aiming at. Alternatively, grindstore is a website that manufactures and distributes official rock merchandise. They don’t deal in distribution of magazines but as they aim at the same audience as my magazine I thought they could be a possible option for distribution.

BAUER MEDIA COMPANYBauer Media Group was founded in 1875 and is a multinational media company. It is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany and comprises 282 magazines in 15 countries worldwide.

Worldwide circulation of Bauer Media Group's magazine titles amounts to 38 million magazines a week.

As well as magazine distribution, BAUER Media also operate BAUER radio and have a 50% stake in the British television company BOX Television. BOX television operates as the content subsidiary that produces a number of popular music channels., which include;• 4music• The Box• Kerrang!

BAUER MEDIA COMPANYThe first magazine BAUER distributed was Bella magazine in 1987. Included in the 282 magazines it currently distributes are;• Take a Break• Kerrang!• Q

I think BAUER Media Company would be a suitable choice to distribute my magazine as they are currently the largest magazine distributer in the U.K which shows how successful they are. Also, through their magazines; Kerrang! and Q, they are aiming at the same audience my magazine is aiming at. This shows they know how to target my audience and successfully distribute to them.

IPC MediaIPC Media (formerly International Publishing Corporation), a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Inc., is a consumer magazine and digital publisher in the United Kingdom, with a large portfolio selling over 350 million copies each year.

A few of the magazines IPC Media distribute include, NME, Soaplife & NUTS

I think IPC Media would be a suitable choice to distribute my magazine as they have the same target audience with their magazine, NME. Plus they sell over 350million copies each year which shows they are good at what they do and would be able to target my market effectively.

Grindstore

Although Grindstore don’t distribute magazine’s, their products are aimed at the same market as my magazine. Because of this, I thought if they decided to distribute it, they would already know how to effectively target the market.Here is a few examples of the products they sell.

Grindstore was founded in 2004 and specialises in rock clothing and merchandise.
