Q7: Looking back at your preliminary task,

what do you feel you have learnt in the

progression from it to the full product? In the progression of the magazine I have learnt many new things. The main thing is that I learnt what some terminology means and how to incorporate this into the magazine and know what it means. The other large thing I learnt was how to use Photoshop. I had no idea on how to use this before the task and now have knowledge on it and could create and edit photos on their in the future. Also I learnt how t change exposure, brightness and how to add a specific colour to it. With this I then learnt how to use the ‘clone stamp’ tool to make bits of photos look better and smoother.

I also developed my knowledge on the mac operating system as I have used them little in the past and now know how to download install and use products on the system and learnt how to copy, paste and add photos to Photoshop. With all this I also learnt how to plan my time and learnt how to draft and design a product before even trying to start it.I learnt how to use fonts too. We were given websites I had not known before to download and install fonts and use them on the magazine for titles and mastheads etc. I did not know you could do this before and makes the magazine more ‘unique’. In the process of this, I had to sort files and place them in the correct destinations which I had little knowledge about on macs before too and this helped develop a clean area to store all files with no rubbish surrounding it.A large part of the magazines too was that I had to make professional photos. I had little experience before so this was new and I slowly learnt how to do this and now know how to make subtle changes without needing Photoshop as much. All these programmes and tools will help with other coursework and have gave a better understanding of professional tools and programmes.Progressing from the college magazine I have also learnt many other things. I have learnt that when creating a magazine, Microsoft publishes is not too fluid and is much more simple and you can not do too much to change and edit it whereas although Photoshop is harder to use, it is much more versatile and more fluid. You can edit and change things as you want, whereas on publisher you are limited. I have also learnt that if you take you're time on a magazine and do things slowly, you get a much better result (as seen) and pays off well. Photoshop also means that I could of used 1000’s more fonts from the internet whereas publisher limits you to the ones in word art which are the same as 10 years ago and not updated or any good for my music magazine. I have learnt many things from my college magazine to creating my music one and they are all for the better and as seen, it produces a much better product when using Photoshop.
