HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?
RESEARCH AND
PLANNINGGOOGLE
GOOGLE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE RESEARCH AND PLANNING STAGE FOR ME, IT ALLOWED ME
TO RESEARCH LOCATIONS, A HUGE AMOUNT OF TUTOTIALS
WHICH HELPED ME (PARTICULARILY IN AFTER EFFECTS AND PHOTOSHOP
WHICH WERE COMPLETELY NEW TO ME), IT ALSO HELPED ME IN COLLECTING IMAGES FOR MY
BLOG. IT WAS ALSO VERY HELPFUL WHEN TRYING TO
PRODUCE MY ANCILLARY TEXTS, PROVIDING ME WITH
THOUSANDS OF RESULTS FOR WHICH EVER FILM POSTER OR MAGAZINE, EACH GIVING ME
SOMETHING TO BASE MY WORK OFF. HELPING ME CREATE HIGH
QUALITY WORK FROM HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES,
RESEARCH AND
PLANNING YoutubeYoutube was definetly one of the most important technogy used in the construction of my work, without it i would have struggled with after effect,
youtube allowing me to watch and pause my way through
tutorials, not only that but also to watch already made trailers, specifically superhero trailers, it
helped me recognise the conventions of of a trailer,
which were obviously helpful towards my final product and
filming.
RESEARCH AND
PLANNINGBlogger
blogger has been a huge part of my work this year, again being only intruduced to it this
year since we used a programme called frogger the year before, I found it incredibly
easy to get to grips with and found the ability to post blogs and pictures from a my phone or ipad brilliant, this made adding evidence (etc, locations and actors) really easy, I used this method of blogging a lot more than using a
computer ppurely because of t it was so easy, the only downside is that typing is harder on a
phone or ipad, being able to document my findings and then view them on a blog made it so much easier to see the development of my
project, and take all the research i have completed into account before making decisions, from the moment i made the storyboards and script to right up to the
editing.
RESEARCH AND
PLANNINGVideo Copilot &
Detpnation Films
These 2 websites are based around teaching after effects, when i was first starting out Detonation films
was exactly what i needed, it provided huge amount of free effects, this gave me the skills i needed to work
with effects and videos, and without it i doubt i would have the confidance to experiment with bigger effects and bigger compositions. Video copilot was the second big influence in learning after effects, unfortunately it dosent provide any free effects like detonation films
does which intially threw me off, but soon after a teacher recomended it to me and i went back for a
second look, this time i found that it offers more than just a shop of effects but also a lot of tutorials from
people who actually make a living from after effects, even appearing in some large budget films. these
tutorials taught me a lot and a lot didnt even require you to buy there products. after a while of following
there tutorials and learning very valuable skills i decided i needed some of the effects they supplied if i wanted to create the best effects possible. therefor i went and i bought one of there most popular products 'Action essentials 2' this came with
hundreds of explsions, glass smashes and dirt charges, things i couldnt create at home
realsitically. These have taught me a lot both in the research stages and the actual
production stages.
Yahoo and Wiki
Yahoo and wikipedia have been vital in gathering information, I liked Yahoo
because it was brilliant and conveniant in answering my questions whether i
ask them my self or i search my question and find someone has already answered it, its amazing to see just how many questions have been asked and answered, and a lot of the answers are quick and to the point, being writen by normal people online, which does raise
worry about there sources but for things like tutorials its been brilliant help
Wikipedia has been helpful not so much for answerin questions but more for collecting
research, providing me with all sorts of knowledge in areas i didnt even think i
needed to know, it has helped me learn a lot about film trailers, especially where
techniques and conventions are involved.
Research and planning
Production Sony HD Shoulder Mount camera& Tripod
I have used this camera for 2 years now and am very confidant when using it, it provides a great picture and has an attachable mic. One problem that occured when filming is that i didnt plud in the mic and lost a lot of the
audio, however this wasnt very important as not much audio actually contributed towards the final product. The abillity of being able to mount it on your shoulder allows for a much
steadier shot, however the size of the camera can create problems, particularily when walking around the woods or when
trying to run.
Post - Production
I have been working with premiere pro since GCSE and am very confidant when adding
effects, increasing brightness and contrast and editing. However this year I did discover more, learning how to add textures to titles, chaning the opacity and adding in lens flares, are some
examples of things i learnt whilst editing.
Premier Pro
Production and Post Production. Photoshop &
Paint.NetPaint.net is a free alternative to Photoshop and somethinf i have been using for years to edit photographs, It dosent
provide much in comparison to photoshop but it is brilliant for cropping images and adding basic effects, this is what i
Mainly used to crop my screenshots.
Photoshop i used when creating my ancillary texts, i also used it to create the 'patch' which
heled blend one of my effects into the ground. i am still new to photoshop and
struggled a lot, i havent found it easy to learn but have enjoed practicing, i have noticed it holds huge amounts of effects and ways to edit an image, its also much more precise
than software like pain.net and can uphold a good quality. however i have noticed things i have learnt from paint.net such as creating layers, something i found important when
creating a magazine cover.
•POST-PRODUCTIONAfter
EffectsAfter effects has been a struggle to learn, only starting to work with it this year i felt it was a lot to take in, however i am very happy i learnt it and think it had a very important impact towards my trailer, im also happy that the skills i have learnt here can be used in any future films i
make, and i hope to be doing this for a long time. and improving my skills,
something i learned like titles, motion tracking and compositing layers are
things that i can use in not only films but also powerpoints an presentations so i am excited to see how far i can go with this.
