What have you learnt about the technologies from constructing this

product? By Vickii Lennon

SOCIAL NETWORKS

I used Facebook to gather feedback from my friends, regarding improvements for my music magazine. I have the app on my iPhone so I was able to screenshot the evidence, and upload it immediately to my blog with annotations. I don’t use Facebook as much as Twitter and Instagram but it was a quick and easy way of communicating which also allows you to send images.I used Twitter to post images of my work for the public to see to gather a wider range of opinions. I did this because most of my friends use Twitter rather than Facebook.

YOUTUBE

I used Youtube to watch videos to learn further skills and shortcuts on Photoshop. For example, how to cut images out which had unneeded white background.

CAMERA

I used an SLR camera to take my model photo’s. I did these because they give the best quality images, whereas if I’d of used my phone the images would have been pixelated and slightly distorted. This would of also made it harder to edit on Photoshop as they wouldn’t of been clear.

IPHOTO

I used iPhoto to upload my shots to my mac computer where I was then able to upload it to my blog. It was a quick and easy process of transferring images.

PHOTOSHOP

Photoshop was one of the main documents which I used for my music magazine. It allowed me to edit photo’s in multiple ways and create the music magazine pages. Photoshop allowed me to resize and transform my images which made my final piece successful.

INDESIGN

Indesign allowed me to create my WHY magazine on. I didn’t use Indesign often however when I did use it, it was successful. In my opinion I think that Photoshop is much better due to it being easier to understand.

PREZI

I used Prezi to create documents on to explain my progress of my coursework. I also used it to show my research which I needed to do before creating my coursework. I thought it was a fun and easy way of presenting your work rather than typing it. It also gave you plenty of options on how to embed your link.

DAFONT.COM

Dafont.com was a website I visited multiple times in order to find a suitable font which reflected the indie genre. I found it difficult to start with trying to find a suitable font. However, the website included lots of fonts to choose from which would suite any genre.

SLIDESHARE

Slideshare was easy to use and allowed me to upload my powerpoint documents to it and embed them to my blog. I have used slideshare multiple times and would use it in the future as I have made my own account. The only issue with slideshare is that it can take a while for the powerpoint to process and then embed.

MAKE A GIF

I loved using make a gif as it was an easy way of showing different pictures or my progress without uploading loads of images and taking up lots of space on my blog. The website gave you options on how to adjust the size of images and the pace of how fast the images change. The embed codes are very easy to use and I would definitely use makeagif.com in the future!

FLICKR

I made an account on Flickr where I made different albums for my cover, contents, and double page spread. It was a very quick and easy way of presenting my progress and the images were all full size. However, I had a problem with the embed code as it wouldn’t embed on my blog but there is a link. Flickr is another social media site but I only use it for my coursework progress images.

OUTLOOK

I used outlook to send emails to and from with attachments of my work. I did this multiple times as in college the mac computer software is different compared to normal computers. This made it difficult working outside of class if I didn’t use outlook to send it to myself each time. It is a quick process and I receive my work on each email instantly. Outlook is very handy and I use it frequently outside of media class too.

MICROSOFT WORD AND POWERPOINT

I used Microsoft Word to create various document. It helped me keep all important information secure in different folders. For example, the risk assessment documents.

I used Microsoft Powerpoint to make presentations on with a range of designs. Once I had made the powerpoint presentation I then used slideshare to get the embed code.

BLOGGER

Blogger was one of the main ways of presenting my work due to not using much paper based work. Without blogger we would have had to of used a much harder website which we would most likely not be able to access out of class. Blogger is easy to use and understand. I visit my blog each day to update and upload more posts within college and at home.

COMPUTER

I used different computers to edit my media work. I used the mac computer in lesson and I have my own mac laptop at home which I used to edit my work. Before I started my media studies course I had never used a mac before and I found them very hard to use. However, I now use a mac on a daily basis and funded into buying my own mac laptop to allow me to get the best grade possible in media.
