Page 5: Evan Daniels

meet joeJoe is a 39-year-old father of three children, two girls and one boy. He recently adopted his son from Haiti. With the new addition of another child and having two growing girls, Joe has a lot of demands on his time. His son, who is unsure of his new surroundings, does not want to be left alone without Joe. As Joe is putting together his son’s new furniture, he also has to keep an eye on him. His daughters, require his help with homework, and while being more independent, want to be with in the evenings.

1. Grab the base of the screwdriver with your right hand.

2. Use your right thumb to unlock the screwdriver. Then, holding the front of the screwdriver with your left hand, pry the handle into the next position. Push the handle until it clicks, and then release the lock.

3. Using the right thumb, press the power button, which is on the top, from the center position to the right (screwing out) or left (screwing in).

4. After attaching the drill bit, press the power button with your right thumb to either put screws into materals or to remove them. Additional support may be needed and should be provided by your left hand.

LG G WATCH CHARGER AND PACKAGING

Page 13: Evan Daniels

Smartwatches are becoming quite popular after being introduced in 2014. They have done well as a notification accessory for our phones. One thing that still needs developing is the charging dock, especially for the LG G Watch which, while is easy to use as a magnetic dock, has several problems.

Not stable enough to counter weight from watch and cable.

No way to ensure dock connection

Cable plug is not stable for long-term use.

Page 14: Evan Daniels

I begin to sketch different dock frames. I wanted to keep the magnetic dock, but also make it more presentable.

Page 15: Evan Daniels

I designed a model that would still present the watch in a more functional way, using an ABS plastic, thus also keeping production costs low without sacrificing the design of the dock.

Page 16: Evan Daniels

SleekThe Stand-up design turns the chargin port into a perfect stand for the showing off the watch.

PortableThe top half of the stand folds down for easy transport.

StableHaving a wide base ensures that the watch will be held up. A rubber grip on the bottom prevents the dock from sliding.

Page 17: Evan Daniels

After redesigning a more stable and elegant dock, I looked at the packaging for the LG Watch. The box, while sturdy, did nothing to showcase the product. It also was largely disporportionate to the size of the watch and charger, being nearly 400% larger.

Page 18: Evan Daniels

The new packaging design uses the current LG logo in a way that exhibits the product rather than using a rendered picture. This new size reduces packaging size by 67%, while still keeping the watch and dock safely protected.

CompactThis design is smaller, fitting more packages per pallet with less material, saving overall costs.

ModernThis package uses the product to sell itself, showing the elegance and modern design of the watch and dock.

WATER BOTTLE OPENING SYSTEM

Page 22: Evan Daniels

Water bottles are used every day. However, for people who have suffered from a stroke, opening one of these can be very difficult to do, due to limited dexterity and movement in their hands, wrists, and arms.

Page 23: Evan Daniels
Page 24: Evan Daniels

After doing several sketches of ideas, I narrowed it down to thses three. I wanted a water bottle openeer that could be opened with one hand, so I looked at both manual and electric variations.

Page 25: Evan Daniels

After making cabriole models of each, I consumer tested each one, looking for the most comfortable gripping forms. The customer really enjoyed the feeling of the third model, pictured here.

I began create the actual product. The goal was to create something simple, yet elegant.

BAPTIST COLLEGIATE MINISTRY GRAPHICS AND MARKETING

Page 30: Evan Daniels

Until 2015, the Baptist Collegiate Ministry lacked a website. I designed their website, designing all graphics and logos for it. Using Square-Space, I was able to create a cross-platform website that reflected the community-based culture that the Baptist Collegiate Ministry holds so dear.

GRAPHIC DESIGNAll graphics from 2013-2015 were design be me, using PhotoshopCS6, Illustrator CS6, and InDesignCS6, and then later Photoshop CC. All graphics were designed for print as posters and/or flyers as well as digital release on social media sites.

Page 32: Evan Daniels

I redesigned the social media face of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, introducing tools, such as Tagboard, Facebook Analytics, and Sponsored Events to the organization to help increase engagement across campus and in the local religous community. Their face-book page went from 200 likes to 764 likes in 3 years, and they now have 337 followers on Instagram.
