Objective: To measure and compare concentrations of ozone and 285 nm ultraviolet-B radiation at different altitudes in the atmosphere.
We expect to prove that:
1. The ozone layer reduces the amount of UV radiation that reaches the surface of Earth.
2. There is an inverse relationship between the concentration of UV radiation and ozone in the ozone layer.
Hypothesis:
-In the ozone layer ozone should be uniformly dense.
- The density will vary at all other altitudes.
Why?:
-Meteorologists: to understand climate change
-Environmentalists: to understand the depletion of the ozone layer.

Expected Results
How do we do it?
-Top four corners: three (3) ozone sensors and one (1) photodiode
-Sensors will record data in SD Card in Arduino
-Arduino will convert data and transfer it to an excel spreadsheet.
-The data will graphed to compare results
Parts-Construction of structure will begin on Friday (10/19/12)-Testing will begin on schedule on Wednesday (10/24/12)-Arduino UNO will be managing and powering these 4 (four)
sensors-Arduino (codename: HOBO) will manage and power remaining
engineering sensorsPossibilities:
-We are considering using the primary UNO to control the heating element

How will requirements be met?
• Primary Mission:
-Sensors will be tested extensively
-Insulation will be focused on sensors to ensure optimal thermal conditions.
•Arduino and “HOBO”:
-Both microcontrollers will tested extensively
-Redundancies in the code will prevent failure
• Testing:
-All equipment will be tested both individually and in tandem
-A mission simulation will be performed at least three (3) times
Science:
-Data will be recovered and analyzed. Calculations will be made, graphs will be plotted, and conclusions will follow.

Structural Tests:
1.Drop Test
2. Whip Test
Functional Tests:
1.Temperature Test
2.Ozone Sensor Test
3.UV Photodiode Test
4.Arduino/HOBO Test
5. Camera Test
6. Activation Testing
Tests
1. Power
-Running the heater for the whole flight will consume a lot of power
2. Thermal
-Primary mission sensors and camera lens are exposed to flight environment
3. Meetings
-commuting team members
4. Testing
-Failure of instruments/structure during testing
5. Monetary Budget
-Currently we have no wiggle room in our budget
