A memorial service was held to commemorate the 35th death anniversary of popular Sin-hala actress and singer, Rukmani Devi at Our Lady of Queen of Peace Church, Maliga-watte, Colombo 10 under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Christ Abeyratna. It was organised by the Rukmani Devi Commemorative Association. President, Henry Priyasantha, Asst. Secretary, Mrs. Sriyani Senanayake, Treasurer, Mrs. Chitrakanthi and members partici-pated.

The donation of special living allowances to 18 differently- abled persons by the Ministry of Social Services, under the Mahinda Chintana policy was held at the Divisional Secre-tariat, Ingiriya recently. An Upahara ceremony for students of the Special Educa-tion Unit, Sri Sumanajothi College, Ingiriya who won silver and bronze medals in the differently-abled com-petitions at the Sugathadasa Stadium was held at the Sri Sumanajothi College premises recently, organised by the Director, Human Resources, Stylish Garments, Bolaru-goda, Poruwedanda, Chaminda P. Kalpage in response to a request of Executive Officer of the factory, Chathurika Bamunuge a past pupil of the Sumanajothi College. Here T.D. Chamodini Dhanushka, receives two silver medals she won.

The SIP Academy Sri Lanka conducted the ‘SIP Prodigy 2013’, the ninth National Abacus, Brain Gym and Men-tal Arithmetic Competition at St. Joseph's College Hall, Colombo recently. Grandpass centre became the cham-pion. Here the teacher-in-charge of the Centre Mrs. Shan-thi Sithamparam receives the award from ITN Director Hashim Omar. A seminar was held at the Seetawakapura Pradeshiya Sabha, Hanwella organised by the Water Supply and Drainage Minister to mark ‘World Bamboo Day'. One-thousand bamboo shoots were distributed among the par-ticipants. A blood donation campaign was held recently by the Het-tipola K.M.G. Group's Suva Seva Health Centre at Het-tipola Community Centre, Kurunegala for the fifth con-secutive year. It was assisted by the National Blood Bank, Kurunegala. Here volunteers donate blood.

Peradeniya Alumni get-togetherThe Colombo Chapter of the Alumni Association of

the University of Peradeniya will hold its annual fam-ily get-together on November 10 at 9.30 a.m. at the Eco Friendly Bird Park, Buthgamuwa Road, Kalapaluwawa, two kilometres from the Rajagiriya junction.

There will be games and competitions for the young and old with prizes and surprises.

Mahanama Wickramasinghe and his group and Jay-alath Manoratne, Nissanka Diddeniya, Mahanama and Mark Anthony of Sinhabahu fame will be in attendance.

gence?” delivered by the late Indian sage J. Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Study Centre, Beddagana, Duwa Road, Kotte, today at 10.30 a.m.

The foundation stone for a Mahindodaya Technological Laboratory at Dammananda Novodya School at Moron-thuduwa, Kalutara was laid by the Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways Rohitha Abeygunawardena recently.
