Welcome to our last newsletter for Term 1! It certainly has
been a very busy time this last fortnight with classes finalising
assessment. Our apologies for postponing parent/teacher
interviews until next term as this was unavoidable. Thank you
for being supportive and patient during these unpredictable
times. We will be vigilant and make sure we provide any up to
date information as soon as possible. We wish everyone a safe
and enjoyable holiday and look forward to seeing you all again
next term which will resume as normal.
Cross Country
Our District Cross Country that was scheduled for tomorrow
has been postponed until next term. Once we know a new
date we will notify families. The orders placed for the BBQ will
be held over for the new date.
Tuckshop Term 2
Next term our Tuckshop will have new operating times due to
a lack of volunteers. Notices were sent home regarding this
last week by both email and paper form. The dates for
tuckshop are listed in our Calendar. If you have any spare
time and can help out at the tuckshop please contact the
committee.
School Performance Tours
Tomorrow morning is the last chance families have to pay for
this performance by cash or Eftpos. After this you can still
pay via Bpoint as long as payment is made prior to the return
of school for Term 2. Our performance is the first Tuesday
back.
Senior Shirts
Our Year 6 students have the opportunity to purchase a senior
shirt. Information regarding this was sent home last week and
students were invoiced. If you would like your child to be able
to purchase a shirt please return their paperwork and pay the
cost by Thursday 22nd April.

Inclusive Education Team
Principals and school leaders play an active role in building a positive learning environment where the whole school community feels included, connected, safe and respected. All members of the school community are active participants in building a welcoming school culture that values diversity, and fosters positive, respectful relationships. Students are active participants in their own learning and wellbeing, feel connected and use their social and emotional skills to be respectful, resilient and safe.
The students have been exploring and identifying the importance and value of having a set of rules and code of conduct for everyone to follow here at Monto State School using our behaviour matrix.
Wadjiny—20th April

into the culture and day to

society will leave students
with a lasting insight into
Aboriginal histories and
cultures
I am very proud of how far each and every student has grown this
term and look forward to seeing how far they’ll continue to grow
throughout term 2. Please stay safe over the holidays and we look
forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces next term. ~ Mrs
Galloway ~
The end of term is almost upon us and all students are in need of a well- deserved break. They should be proud of their efforts as they have all worked hard for the past ten weeks.
Most of our assessment tasks are complete for the term with only Design Technology and Visual Arts (our puppets) to be finished early in Term 2. Students were pleased to share their labelled Mallard Ducks from their Information Reports. Some of these are shown in the following photos.
With my unexpected absence from school recently, Parent Interviews for the Year 1/2/3 class will be arranged within the first few weeks of next term. Please keep an eye out for information regarding these.
I hope students and their families enjoy their
Easter break and stay safe.
4/5/6 Bee-utiful news
of the week! Written by: Miss Shallcross
As the term draws to a close we look back on the busy term we have had!
We were lucky enough to attend the GRIP Leadership Conference, celebrate our Year 6 senior students at their
Badge Ceremony, have a visit from Brennan from NRL, had lots of students attend North Burnett trials, get class
pets, continue recycling and do lots and lots of learning in class!
We are looking forward to starting new topics next term and sharing these with you.
We wish everyone safe and happy holidays. Eat lots of chocolate!

Classroom Music
This term in classroom music, students in years 3-6 have
been learning to read and write music. We have writ-
ten our own song using a provided rhythm and discov-
ered how to apply the time signature and use bar lines.
Students in the Early Years wing have been learning to
read and sing high and low notes. When singing a high
note, we place our hands on our head. When singing
a low note, we put our hands on our belly.

Instrumental Music
Did you know? Queensland is the only state that has mu-
sic specialist teachers in most public schools?
#DontStopTheMusicAU
Queensland is also the only state of Australia that delivers a comprehen-
sive Instrumental Music Curriculum from years four to twelve (for band
instruments).
School holidays are almost upon us
During this period empty schools provide an opportunity for criminal activity, becoming targets for unlawful entry, arson, stealing, graffiti and property damage – all of which become a cost to the community.
The School Watch Program is a partnership between Education Queensland, the Queensland Police Service and the State Government Protective Security Service. It aims to reduce criminal activity in Queensland schools and encourages everyone to look out for after-hours crime in our schools. If you see anything suspicious, please don’t attempt to intervene. Call the School Watch number – 13 17 88
Let’s work together to help create safer school communities.
If you have information for police, contact Policelink by providing information using the online suspicious activity form 24hrs per day at www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting.
Report crime information anonymously via Crime Stoppers. Call 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.
