There was never a new fertilizer as innovative as Osmocote. Everris introduced the first generation of coated fertilizers in 1967: an NPK granule with an organic resin coating around it, ensuring that only one application of nutrients would be enough for a long period of time. This was the start of a whole new principle of fertilizer application.

The power of OsmocoteRight up to the present day, the system of controlled nutrient release has always been perceived by growers as very effective and efficient. New generations of coated fertilizers have made their entrance and the products have been greatly improved, but the basic principle has remained the same for more than 40 years!

What advantages does Osmocote offer in your situation?Using Osmocote ensures a high-quality plant every time. Your customers will be satisfied. There are many more reasons for choosing Os-mocote. If you would like to find out about the advantages that Osmocote could offer in your specific situation, your Everris Regional Sales Manager will be pleased to explain them to you.

What are Osmocote Controlled Release Fertilizers?Osmocote is a coated fertilizer. Every granule contains NPK (nitrogen, phosphate and potas-sium). A coating of organic resin is applied around the granule. This coating ensures that the nutrients are made available to the plant over a longer period of time.

It is important that the nutrients are protected from leaching and that the nutrients release a little every day. This means that the nutrients are fully available to the plant. There is no loss of nutrients, and the nutrition is efficient and very effective.

Determine which Osmocote product / release pattern is most suitable (see page 28).

Choose the right longevity (3-4 M, 5-6 M, 8-9 M, 12-14 M, 16-18 M) and analysis (see page 26, 29).

Determine the correct dosage (see page 30).

Determine how you wish to apply the fertilizer, and bear in mind how the product will be applied (see page 33).

Note: As circumstances differ per nursery, it is recommended to contact Everris for advice for your specific situation.

The right Osmocote advice in 4 steps!

Benefits of using Osmocote• Plants grow better because they get

the nutrients they require at any given moment.

• Osmocote contributes to an environmentally-friendly way of fertilizing; the leaching of nutrients is minimized by the coating.

• The quality of plants is guaranteed thanks to optimum growth.

• Less pressure of diseases and infestations due to an even supply of nutrients and a healthy plant growth.

• Satisfied customers: the plants retain their high quality even in the phase after delivery to the consumer, thanks to the continued release of nutrients.

Without Osmocote Half dosage Osmocote Full dosage Osmocote

Choose the longevity matching your requirementsOsmocote is available in several ‘longevities’. The longevity indicates the period of time over which a granule continues to release nutrients. There are longevities available of 3-4 months, 5-6 months, 8-9 months, 12-14 months and even 16-18 months. Every longevity of Osmo-cote Exact is recognizable by its own color code (see table above).

Throughout the longevity, the rate of nutrient release is related to the temperature. The release begins shortly after application. The stated longevity applies at an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius.

At higher temperatures, for example if used in a warmer climate zone or in a greenhouse, the

release will be accelerated. The longevity will then be shorter. At lower temperatures, the release will slow down and the longevity will be extended.

The working principles of Everris Coated FertilizersEverris coated fertilizers consist of fine NPK granules and contain, depending on the product, trace elements and added magnesium.

All these elements are essential for plant growth. Every granule is covered with semi-permeable coating (a kind of membrane) of resin made from vegetable oils. After application of Osmocote, water pen-etrates through the semi-permeable coating and starts to dissolve the nutrients present in the granule. The release of nutrients starts once they have been partially dissolved. A pump-like action is initiated due to differences in osmotic pressure (see diagram). The plant is able to take up the released nutrients. In general, the start-up phase lasts approximately 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the longevity.

Temperature effects on the releaseEverris ‘Controlled Release Fertilizers’ work at temperatures above freezing (0 °C). Influenced by the temperature, the membrane regulates the daily release of nutrients. As explained before, the indicated longevity applies at an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures the release of nutrients will be faster. At lower temperatures it will be slower, in line with the nutritional needs of the plant.

No effect on the release by other factorsSalt level, pH, microbial activity and water quality or rainfall have no influence on the release of nutri-ents. Only the temperature is important, making Osmocote very reliable in its use.

Every granule is covered by an organic coating that regulates the daily release of nutrients.

Granules contain NPK, Mg, B, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo and Zn.

Water penetrates through the coating and dissolves the nutri-ents inside the granule.

The dissolved nutrients are released through the coating, by osmotic pressure.

Influenced by the temperature, the nutri-ents are released at a constant, regular and controlled rate during the longevity.

In 1967, there was only one type of Osmocote. An NPK fertilizer with longevity but without trace elements. The system of applying nutrients using a controlled release fertilizer was born!

A great deal has been invested in product devel-opment since then. New generations of coated fertilizers have been developed.

The most significant difference between these generations of coated fertilizers is the level of con-trol over nutrient release. The 3rd and 4th genera-tion coated fertilizers are superior. Both longevity and pre-determined release are tightly controlled. These products are unique. They offer the user un-rivalled certainty and a maximum guarantee of a good result. Moreover, you can tailor your choice on how the product should work to your own situ-ation. Whether you choose a Standard, a Hi.End release type or one of the other release patterns, highest quality is always guaranteed!

More than 40 Years Osmocote development for growers, from 1967 to the present day

3rd generationYou choose a 3rd generation Osmocote Exact if you want a maximum guar-antee of good growth and perfect quality. You choose Osmocote Exact if you cultivate in greenhouses, if you apply the fertilizer by plant hole dibbling equipment, if you grow sensitive species, if you grow high value crops or if you apply 75% or more of the nutrients by the coated fertilizer. With a 3rd generation both longevity and release pattern are guaranteed.

4th generationThe 4th generation is an extension of the Osmocote Exact 3rd generation and offers very special - programmed - release patterns. A percentage of the granules are double coated. In this part the start-up of fertilizer release is postponed and this feature is used to create innovative release patterns. With the introduction of the 4th generation coated fertilizers, the answer to chal-lenging growing circumstances like growing in greenhouses, potting up dur-ing the summer and autumn/winter potting is now available to growers. Suit-able where higher fertilizer release in the second half of the culture (Hi.End) or in situations where no fertilizer in the first period is required (Protect).

2nd generationOsmocote Pro belongs to the 2nd generation coated fertilizers. Longevity and analysis are guaranteed. The release of nutrients during the longev-ity can vary within certain defined limits, dependent on temperature.Osmocote Pro contains NPK and a full package of trace elements.

The safest Osmocote ever!Osmocote Exact is unique. With Osmocote Exact you have a unique coated fertilizer at your disposal. Choosing Osmocote Exact equals choosing the safest coated fertilizer, uniformity and evenness of the product as well as patterned release of nutrients.

SafetyThe Osmocote Exact concept is unique. No other coated fertilizer offers you so many guarantees prior to use. The high level of reliability results in a high quality crop. Osmocote Exact is therefore suitable for all crop types, both outdoor-grown and those grown in greenhouses or tunnels. In case of highly technical ornamental horticulture, Osmocote Exact offers decisive advantages where the safety of the crop is concerned.Incorrect product usage is kept to a minimum thanks to the colored ‘tracers’. Every longevity can be recognized by the color of a few of the granules. You therefore always know for sure what the longevity of the product is when you are mixing it in the substrate.

Uniformity and evenness of the product and its effectsYour Osmocote Exact product will work consistently every year, under any circumstances. Thanks to a special production process and strict quality controls, you are guaranteed a good crop.Consistency is particularly important. If you change the dosage after one growing season, you can be sure that the changed dose will be the only factor influencing the result of the following year. You do not need to worry that the nutrients in one batch may be released faster or slower than in another batch. Not with Osmocote Exact. Only Osmocote Exact offers you this level of reliability.

Programmed release of nutrientsWithin Osmocote Exact you can choose a release pattern. A release pattern shows how nutrients will become available for the plants during the longevity. It is the grower who decides what is the best release pattern for his crops or situation. In case plants have equal nutrient demand throughout the whole growing cycle, Osmocote Exact Standard is the best product. Crops which have difficulties with rooting show a positive reaction when Osmocote Exact Lo.Start is applied. This product releases less nutrients in the beginning. Hi.End is especially suitable for plants showing higher nutrient demand in the second growing phase. A built in nutrient boost means plants will benefit from additional feed at a later stage. Protect is designed to be applied in autumn/winter pottings, showing hardly any release in the first months after application. Afterwards it releases like an Osmocote Exact ‘Standard’. If you are not able to apply more than one release pattern, then Osmocote Exact Standard has shown to be the best choice for the majority of crops (also consult page 28).

10 good reasonsto use Osmocote Exact • The safest Osmocote ever!• Real control over the nutrient supply

to your plants.• Excellent results with a broad range of

species.• Environmentally friendly:

minimized leaching.• Economical: release tailored to the

needs of the crop, no surplus, no loss.• Plants stay in healthier condition after

they are sold.• Always the right product available for

every situation.• User friendly: simple and practical.• Recognizability of the longevity

thanks to added color coding.• The release of nutrients is matched by

the plant needs due to the patterned release (unique to Osmocote Exact).

Page 11: Everris Fertilizer & Plant Protection Guide

9

StandardThe ‘Standard’ release pattern ensures rigorous control over nutrient release throughout the longevity. It can therefore be used on evergreens with a continuous nutrient demand throughout the season.Osmocote Exact Standard is always a good choice, especially in situations with many different crops requiring uniform nutrition. Osmocote Exact Standard is available in 3-4 M, 5-6 M, 8-9 M and 12-14 M.

Lo.StartThe release rate of Osmocote Exact Lo.Start is relatively low during the first stage of cultivation and increases over time. This pattern is ideal for large grade specimen trees, slow rooting conifers and salt sensitive crops.Osmocote Exact Lo.Start is available in 16-18 M.

Hi.EndThe Osmocote Exact Hi.End release pattern is especially developed for crops that need more nutrients later in their growth, in their second growing phase. Osmocote Exact Hi.End generates a release pattern with a ‘booster effect’, which starts 1½ to 2 months after application. The result will be visible by a higher EC-value and more nutrients will become available for the plants.Osmocote Exact Hi.End belongs to the 4th generation Programmed Release Fertilizers and is available in 5-6 M, 8-9 M and 12-14 M.

ProtectOsmocote Exact Protect is designed for application during autumn and winter, also ideal for use when deflasking tissue culture and for bare rooted crops. The start-up of nutrient release is postponed for the whole product. Because of this the EC in growing media remains low during the first 2-3 months after application. In spring the product starts releasing and nutrients become available for the plants. Once started, the product releases in line with a Standard release curve.Osmocote Protect is available in 12-14 M.

Available Osmocote Exact release patterns:

Every longevity of Osmocote Exact is recognizable by its own color tracer

Taking fertilizers to a higher levelThe strongest innovation among coated fertilizers is certainly the introduction of the fourth generation. Osmocote Exact with ‘programmed release’. New release patterns are a reality, because with the latest generation of coated fertilizers the start-up of nutrient release is (partly) postponed.

Second coating for delayed nutrient releaseDCT stands for ‘Dual Coating Technology’. With this technique a second coating of a different composition is applied around an Osmocote Exact granule. This second coating delays the startup of nutrient release for up to two months.DCT based fertilizers are the basis of new release patterns. By applying a second coating to a pro-portion of the granules, a part of the nutrient release is delayed. ‘Programmed’ release is a reality! By varying the percentage of dual-coated granules, innovative release patterns are now available.Osmocote Exact, powered by DCT, now provides growers the flexibility of ‘programmed’ release with the ability to apply controlled release fertilizer at an optimum time with the confidence in the nutrient release matching the crop needs precisely.

New release patterns for challenging growing circumstancesNew Osmocote Exact release patterns offer a solution for challenging growing circumstances in which there was previously no solution to feed the plants completely with coated fertilizers. An example is the application of coated fertilizers in greenhouses or tunnels. Because of the high tem-peratures, it was often required to adapt lower rates of CRF. With Osmocote Exact Hi.End a better solution for this situation is available. (More information on page 11).Another example is the potting of container nursery stock crops during autumn/winter. The require-ments of a coated fertilizer are greater during this period of time. The nutrient release should be as low as possible in winter. In springtime the release has to start quite rapidly, in line with plant demand. Osmocote Exact Protect is the answer to this challenging situation (more information on page 12). NPK + trace

9 good reasonsto use Osmocote Exact Hi.End • Because of the ‘programmed release’

in Hi.End, the supply of nutrients matches optimally with plant need.

• Less nutrients at the beginning, more nutrients later, exactly when the plants require it.

• Because of the higher EC-value in the second growing phase, a better plant growth is achieved.

• New possibilities for application in situations with elevated temperatures, e.g. greenhouses and tunnels.

• Safe and reliable, based on proven Exact technology.

• Integrated fertilizer boost to save time and money on additional fertilizer applications during the growing season.

• Less pressure of diseases because plants are more vigorous, especially in the second growing phase.

• Improved crop quality, higher yields, increased ‘return on investment’.

• Trials clearly show the added value of Osmocote Exact Hi.End at a 25% increased dosage.

Programmed release, optimal plant nutritionProgrammed release, lower EC-values during the first month after potting and more available feeding in the months afterwards. That is precisely what Osmocote Exact Hi.End is offering growers.

The application of coated fertilizers in greenhouses and tunnels, with elevated temperatures, has always been challenging. Knowing Hi.End releases less nutrients in the first months after applica-tion, this is the ideal product for use in covered areas with elevated temperatures. The applied rates can be at a higher level compared to Osmocote Exact Standard, because part of the nutrient release is postponed and will not contribute to the EC-value. Safe and reliable.

About a quarter of the granules in Hi.End have a postponed start. As a result the EC-value in the first month after potting is lower compared to a situation in which Osmocote Exact Standard is applied. Because of the lower EC in the first couple of months, Hi.End is suitable for application on crops requiring a low EC after potting and showing an increased demand in the second growing phase.

In the situation mentioned above, the same rate compared to Osmocote Exact Standard is ap-plied, but you can also use the product in a different way. The dosage of Hi.End can be increased by 20%, if in your current situation the EC-value after potting is at the right level. Your plants will benefit from a safe EC during first months after potting and receive more nutrient later in the growing season. Trials clearly show the benefits of Hi.End for the plants. Re-fertilization during summer is, in most cases, no longer required. And importantly: as a grower you will benefit from improved safety; improved nutrition late in the season and increased profitability as a result of a higher quality plant being produced coupled with a shorter production time.

Osmocote Exact Hi.End is available in a longevity of 5-6M, 8-9M and 12-14M.

Everris-TIP! For the best result it is important to use the correct dosage.

Everris-TIP! Osmocote Exact Protect is not mentioned in the recommendation chart on page 28. Because the product is recommended in specific situations (time/location) it is advised to ask for a special recommendation from your Everris Regional Sales Manager.

A programmed release fertilizer for greenhouse, propagation and autumn / winter pottings Osmocote Exact Protect has been designed for application in greenhouses, propagation and autumn and winter pottings in cool climate zones. Osmocote Exact Protect contains only dual coated granules and the total product is ‘postponed’. Because of this, hardly any nutrients are released during wintertime.

A strong argument to use Protect is the fact that a full rate can be applied. Protect allows a full rate to be applied at potting for crops whose initial nutrient requirements are low. Additional top dress applica-tions are no longer required. Application of Protect leads to savings on production costs and delivers perfect plant quality.

Osmocote Exact Protect has a longevity of 12-14 months. This longevity is including the postponed start and will cover the whole growing season.

7 good reasonsto use Osmocote Exact Protect • Availability of nutrients matches

closely with plant need as a result of ‘programmed release’.

• Protect is specially designed for use in greenhouses or propagation as well as autumn/winter container nursery stock pottings.

• Efficient use of released nutrients. Nutrients are released when the plant is able to take them up.

• Safe and reliable, based on proven Exact technology.

• Re-fertilization in spring is not required anymore, so you save time, labour requirements, and money.

• Improved plant quality, higher yields, improved return on investment.

• Trials show the beneficial effect of Osmocote Exact Protect.

Recommended rates and product breakdowns of Osmocote Exact Hi.End / Protect

Remarks:* Rates are based on substrates with maximum 1 kg starter fertilizer / m³ and on application in uncovered areas. In case of covered areas, rates need to be adjusted. Because

products contain DCT, (part of) the granules are postponed and the EC-value of the substrate will be lower in the first months after potting. Rates are recommendations only. Rates may vary according to your specific growing situation. Contact an Everris representative for a personalized recommendation.

When Hi.End is applied at a rate equal to a regular Osmocote Exact Standard, the release of nutrients will be lower in the first months after application. A percentage of the granules have a postponed start and is therefore not contributing to the EC. If you would like to supply signifi-cantly more feeding to your plants during the summer (second growing phase), then choose an increased rate of Osmocote Exact Hi.End (see graph).

Determine how you want to use Osmocote Exact Hi.End

Osmocote Exact Hi.End 8-9M, rate 6 g/LIn this case the EC-value in the first months after potting is at a lower level. At a later time, more nutrients become available.

Osmocote Exact Hi.End 8-9M, rate 7 g/LBecause of the higher rate, the EC-value in the first months after potting is at the same level compared to a situation with 6 kg Standard. In the phase afterwards significantly more nutrients become available for the plant programmed ‘nutrient boost’).

Osmocote Exact with an extra high potassium level is ideal for crops in which compact growth is required, or for situations in which the water given contains high levels of nitrogen. Some plants with a long growth period have a higher need for potassium. Examples include perennials, berry-producing crops, cyclamens, primulas, violets and early-flowering crops.

Osmocote Exact Standard High K is also the right choice if the water contains high concentrations of bicarbonate which need to be brought back into balance with nitric acid. Osmocote Exact Standard High K is available in longevities 5-6 and 8-9 months.

For situations in which Osmocote is difficult to apply!Osmocote Exact Tablets offer you the possibility of giving very accurate dosages in a simple manner. Thanks to its conical shape, a tablet can easily be pushed into the growing medium. The tablets are 5 grams and available longevities are 8-9 months and 12-14 months.

Important to know: Osmocote Exact Tablets are produced with a water soluble glue system. After application the tablets fall apart to loose granules. This environmentally friendly system prevents roots from pushing the tablet out of the pot.

Osmocote Exact Tablets are frequently applied in container plants and hanging baskets just before delivery in order to take care of nutrition for the consumer. They are suitable for use in planting holes when planting out in a landscape situation.

Note that Tablets fall apart into loose granules after they are exposed to a significant amount of water.

Everris-TIP! If you work with drip irrigation, apply the Osmocote Exact Tablet underneath the drippers for optimum dispersal of the nutrients.

which can now also be applied in pots with small volumes.

• Uniform plant growth thanks to good distribution of the granules.

• 100% coated & 100% safe for plants.• Every granule contains all nutrients.• Easy, accurate dosage.• Nutrition and irrigation are separated

and therefore both optimized.• Very easy to apply.• In case of slow-rooting and sensitive

young plants, the best policy is to broadcast Osmocote Exact Mini after rooting. It will guarantee healthy plants which retain the right feeding.

The Osmocote Exact for applications in small volumesOsmocote Exact Mini has been specially developed for applications in small substrate volumes. It is therefore ideal for pots smaller than 8 cm in diameter like plugs and trays with small compartments. With a granule size of between 0.85 and 2.0 mm, this product guarantees optimum distribution of the nutrients in the substrate. The granules are so small that a good distribution can be achieved even in volumes starting at 20 ml.

Osmocote Exact Mini can be applied by mixing in the growing medium or by topdressing once the roots are developed. Osmocote Exact Mini is primarily applied in order to bridge the period from rooting to re-potting. Cuttings substrate is generally very low in nutrients and additional fertil-izing via the sprinkler system is often not convenient.

Osmocote Exact Mini 15-3.9-9.1 is available in a 3-4 month and 5-6 month longevity. The granules are smaller than the ‘standard’ Osmocote Exact granules, yet this mini version still performs just as well and contains a complete package of trace elements and magnesium. The product is packaged in resealable 10-kg buckets and is very economical in use. The 3-4 month product is also available in 25 kg bags.

The best 2nd generation coated fertilizer is produced by Everris!Osmocote Pro is a controlled release fertilizer of the 2nd generation with a high NPK content. It contains all necessary trace elements and has a fixed longevity. If more control over the release of nutrients is desired, Everris recommends that Osmocote Exact is used, especially for sensitive crops, difficult situations or plant hole dosing (Osmocote Pro is not suitable for dibbling with sensitive species). Osmocote Exact is also recommended if a high trace element level is important.

For more detailed recommendations when to use Osmocote Pro, consult page 28.Osmocote Pro is available in four different longevities. 3-4 months, 5-6 months, 8-9 months and 12-14 months. All products contain the same orange color code.

The start-up Osmocote!Osmocote Start is specifically designed for efficient nutrition of crops with a short cultivation cycle or for the additional nutrition of crops for a period of 6 weeks. If this period is too short it is recommended to use Osmocote Exact Mini 3-4 months or Osmocote Bloom.

Osmocote Start has a 11-4.8-14.1+TE composition and contains the full spectrum of trace ele-ments. The special coating protects the nutrients against leaching. Consequently, providing a consistent release of nutrients in only six weeks. This will create optimum conditions for the root development of your crops.

Osmocote Start is very well suited to more salt-sensitive vegetable crops and cuttings that are more difficult to root. In contrast with traditional fertilizers, Osmocote Start avoids the risks of an excessive salt level and leaching of nutrients; your crops always get the right nutrients. Osmocote Start is not designed for dibbling.

The high potassium level of Osmocote Start ensures compact and even growth. Osmocote Start can be mixed and application over the crops is possible as long as you ensure that no granules remain on the leaves.

No loss of granules with Osmocote Topdress FTRe-fertilizing is sometimes required for leftover container plants. In situations where not all plants are sold and extra fertilizer is required, it is important to ensure that the remaining plants stay in good condition throughout the growing season. For such situations, Everris has developed Osmocote Topdress FT 22-2.2-5 +1.2Mg+TE 4-5 months. Added compounds make the product stick to the growing media surface. No fertilizer is lost even if pots are blown over.

Osmocote Topdress FT has been developed specifically for topdress applications in container nursery stock. Product can be topdressed on containers for quick greening-up or for fast correc-tions of deficiency symptoms.

Topdressing can be done in case of overhead irrigation or drip irrigation. When drip irrigation is used, the product should be placed directly under the dripper(s). The product can be applied with recommended Everris topdress applicators.

Ask Everris for more information.

6 good reasonsto use Osmocote Topdress FT: • Osmocote Topdress FT contains fast,

slow and controlled release nutrients.• Fine granule size for even distribution

on the containers.• Osmocote Topdress FT will stick on the

top – no lost granules when pots fall over.

• Osmocote Topdress FT is dust free.• Osmocote Topdress FT contains extra

trace elements for greening effect.• Osmocote Topdress FT can be used

for fast corrections of deficiency symptoms - after application plants will again grow strong and healthy.

The Osmocote for bedding plantsIn 2011 Everris™ introduced Osmocote Bloom to the market. Osmocote Bloom is a specially designed controlled release fertilizer for bedding plants like petunias, begonias and geraniums. It contains NPK 12-3.1-14.9+0.9Mg+TE, magnesium and all other necessary trace elements for healthy growth. The granule is 100% coated with a 2-3 month longevity. It helps improve the quality of the plant by delivering maximum nutrition throughout the crop cycle, selling and early consumer stages. Osmocote Bloom can also save you money on labor costs.

8 good reasonsto use Osmocote Bloom: • Specifically designed for bedding

plants.• Healthy, compact and uniform plants.• Sustainable; less emission to surface

and ground water.• Save on labor costs; one application is

all you need.• Easy application; designed for mixing

into growing media.• Lower EC value in the potting soil,

better growth.• Less fertilizer inputs and better

results.• Improved shelf-life for consumer

phase.

Product Characteristics:•  Specially developed for bedding plants.•  Complete trace element package.•  Longevity of 2-3 months.•   Recommended rate is 3-4.5 grams per liter

of pot volume.•   Using a starter fertilizer is not necessary,

not recommended.•   Mid-size granule is perfect for mixing into

smaller pots and packs.

Directions for useOsmocote Bloom has been developed for incorporating into the growing media. Osmo-cote Bloom begins its nutrient release immedi-ately after application, so the product should be mixed-in right before potting the plants.

During the first period after mixing, EC levels will be low. Depending on the soil temperature, nutrients are gradually released throughout a 2-3 month period. In the major-ity of bedding plant cultures, this longevity matches the entire cultivation period and even the first weeks of the consumer stage. The

recommended dosage is 3-4.5 grams per liter of pot volume. However, this depends on the crop and the growing situation.

In some situations (e.g. when crop cycles are longer than 2-3 months, or when using plant hole dibbling equipment), Everris recommends using Osmocote Exact which will deliver the greatest safety and maximum performance.

The recommended rates are based on non-fertilized substrates. Maximum results can be reached when the potting soil does not con-tain a starter fertilizer. However, if a starter fertilizer has been used, we recommend using no more than 0.5 kg/m3 in combination with the mentioned application rates. Osmocote Bloom is primarily meant for mixing in the growing media – we do not recommend this product when dibbling. Re-fertilization with water soluble fertilizers and/or adjustments for water quality can be required under certain circumstances. Contact your Everris advisor for more specific advice.

Step 1Choose a longevity at least as long as the crop cultivation time.

Step 2 Consider choosing one longevity longer to have an improved shelf life for your customers. (Trial results for validation of the quality improvement effect are available from our Everris Regional Sales Managers).

Step 3Consider changing the chosen longevity because of climate / temperature conditions:

Consider choosing one longevity longer in warm climate conditions.• Due to higher temperatures, the longevity will be shorter.• To have a correct daily release of nutrients, reduce the application rate. Because

the nutrients are released over a shorter period of time, less kilograms of Osmocote must be applied per m³ substrate.

Consider choosing one longevity shorter in cold climate conditions.• Due to lower temperatures, nutrient release will be slow.• To have a correct daily release of nutrients, increase the application rate. Because

the nutrients are released over a longer period of time, more kilograms of Osmocote must be applied per m³ substrate.

Effect of temperature on longevityThe product longevity is determined at 21 °C.

Differences in daily release at different longevitiesWhen 3-4 M, 5-6 M or 8-9 M are com-pared at the same rate (e.g. 6 kg/m³), the daily release of nutrients will be the high-est at 3-4 M, because the nutrients are released over the shortest period of time.

Note: Osmocote Exact Standard and

Osmocote Pro are available in every longevity,

from 3-4 M up to 12-14 M. Other release pat-

terns are available in specific longevities, due

to the specific circumstances these products

are used for.

To determine the right rateAdjust rates to compensate for potting larger root volumes

It is important to take into account that:

• Everris recommendations are based on substrates with a maximum of 1kg of starter fertilizer/m³.

• Mentioned rates should be present in the whole pot. The dilution effect should be compensated for to apply the correct dosage, when, for example, plants in 2 liter pots are potted into 4 liter pots.

• In cases where a high dosage is required, Everris recommends Osmocote Exact.

• For Osmocote Exact Hi.End, mentioned rates need to be increased by approximately 25%. See information on rates on page 13.

• For a specific recommendation it is advised to contact your Everris Regional Sales Manager, who will be able to make a recommendation based on your crops and growing circumstances.

Choose the right Osmocote rate

* g/L = grams of Osmocote per liter of potting volume. 1g/L = 1kg/m³ in theory, whilst in practice when incorporating into potting media or re-potting be aware to factor in the dilution effect as discussed above. Mentioned rates are not applicable for Osmocote Exact Hi End or Osmocote Exact Protect (see page 13); Osmocote Exact Mini (see page 19) or Osmocote Start (see page 21).

Rates are recommendations only. Rates may vary according to your specific growing situ-ation. Contact an Everris representative for a personalized recommendation.

Everris-TIP! Contact your local supplier of Everris fertilizers for a detailed fertilizer recommendation for your situation.

Step 3: Calibrate your dibbler to the recom-mended rate or use the Everris yellow spoons applicable for your rate of application.

Spoon feeding your plantsThe best method for accurately adding fertilizer to potting media is to use a calibrated dibbling machine. The least reliable method is by handful guessing.

In between is a simple, yet reliable way and that is to use our yellow rate spoons. The spoons are graded for accuracy, and it is worth asking your Everris representative for a set and for advice on how to use them. Underfeeding will necessitate topdressing later, which has high labour costs, so get your fertilizer rates spot on by spooning in.

Incorporation rates noteWhen potting up ensure the mentioned rates are present in the whole pot. The dilution effect should be compensated for to apply the correct dosage.

mExample: Quality of fertilizer per pot = 12 g

3 Liters of soil 3 x 4 g/L = 12 g

2 Liters of soil 2 x 6 g/L = 12 g

Compared with the original 4 g/L, dosage must be increased to 6 g/L.

Contact your Everris Regional Sales Manager to determine the appropriate rate for your crop.

Application methods for Osmocote

Mixing into the growing mediaMixing Osmocote into the growing media is an easy and effective method of application. In practice, this is the most widely used method. After mixing, the growing media must be used within two weeks to avoid EC build-up. This is particularly important for the shorter longevities. Released nutrients can be leached out by extra water via overhead irrigation.

The plant hole / dibble methodIn case of the plant hole method, the fertilizer is mechanically dosed into or just next to the plant hole. The applied product and the quantity can be varied as required. Often it is recommended to reduce your normal topdress/incorporation rate when using the dibble method. For this application method Osmocote Exact is recommended. Plant hole fertil-ization reduces weeds and liverwort on the surface of the pot. See also method 3. Apply a small quantity of growing media between the fertilizer and the roots of the plant. 3-4 M longevities are not recommended for this application method.

Side dress methodThis method of dosage does not involve a dose of fertilizer in the plant hole, but instead two positions next to the plant. The roots therefore do not come into direct contact with the fertilizer granules. This method should be given preference over method 2 for a number of crops such as Buxus, Cornus, Cyclamen, Skimmia and Erica, and also in case of direct planting of unrooted cuttings in the final pot. For this application method Osmocote Exact is recommended.

Topdress Applicator methodThere are a number of topdressing applicators on the market that enhance the ability of nurseries to measure and apply a specific accurate dose of fertilizer to the pot surface.

Topdressing OsmocoteOsmocote can be applied by topdressing, if necessary with the aid of a dosage tube (doses from 1 to 6 grams) or with Everris dosage spoons (which can be requested free of charge). Topdressing is also frequently seen where larger pot sizes are used. For an optimum result, water must be given from above. Spilling fertilizer (e.g. when pots fall over) will no longer be a problem when using the new Osmocote Topdress NT.

Osmocote Exact TabletTablets are easy to use and have the advantage that the fertilizer remains in the growing medium if pots fall over. Where drip irrigation is used, the tablets should be pushed in un-der the dripper. When tablets are exposed to water, they will fall apart into granules. This will prevent the roots from pushing the tablets out of the pot. Avoid exposing tablets to water before use, because the strength of the tablets will decrease. Do not press tablets after they are applied in growing media.

Osmoform NXT is the new slow release fertilizer from Everris, replacing Osmoform 1 and Osmoform 2. It has a new and unique feature. Osmoform NXT contains slow release nitrogen and slow release potassium in one product! The product delivers also phosphorus, magnesium and trace elements to your plants.

Osmoform NXT, 22-2.2-9.1+1.2Mg+TE, is a slow release fertilizer. The working principle is based on long nitrogen chains breaking down slowly. This process is influenced by temperature, microbiologi-cal activity and humidity. Osmoform NXT is based on the new granulation technology SILK (silica based) which includes slow release nitrogen and potassium. The slow release K is embedded in a 3 dimensional matrix, which slowly dissolves over time.

Osmoform NXT contains NPK, magnesium and a package of trace elements. The nitrogen composi-tion is balanced to have quick plant reaction after application and a long lasting effect. Osmoform NXT contains 1.3-2.8 mm granules.

Osmoform NXT is developed for topdress applications in container nursery stock crops but can also be used for other purposes where a long-lasting effect of nitrogen and potassium is required. The nitrogen and potassium in the product is releasing during a period of approximately 8-10 weeks after application.

8 good reasonsto use Osmoform NXT: • Osmoform NXT contains slow

release nitrogen and potassium.• No loss of fertilizer when plants fall

over. Product sticks to the surface of the growing medium.

• Quick plant reaction, strong greening up effect.

• Very efficient nitrogen release.• Contains magnesium and trace

elements with high iron content.• Includes silicium for stronger plants.• Long lasting effect up to 8-10 weeks.• Easy application.

An easy to use a slow release fertilizer tablet that meets the nutritional requirements of a wide variety of plants, 20-4-4-2+TE analysis.

Agriform delivers enough nutrition to feed the plant for up to 12 months (in warmer climates). This can drastically reduce labour costs and materials generally needed for reapplication. The simple application of the tablets will ensure both uniform and sufficient fertilization.

The placement of the tablets near the root zone ensures no nutrition is given to surface-rooted weeds or grass. Also, no surface residue is washed away, and the leaching-resistant properties of the tablets pro-tect underground water from pollution. Agriform is best used in high volume planting like re-vegetation and is ideal to use in heavier soils.

How Agriform Planting Tablets workThese compact, easy-to-use fertilizer tablets, available in 10 gram and 21 gram, eliminate the need for measuring small quantities of dry materials, and provide a safe, scientifically complete plant food which feeds for up to 12 months.

Planting Tablets fill the continuing need of all plants for a full range of nutrients. During the first year of establishment, the demand for plant food is not great in terms of quantity of nutrients, but continuous availability is critical for the development of healthy roots and vigorous top growth.

Roots completely surround Agriform Planting Tablets to pick up the nutrients that are gradually released by the action of soil bacteria. The absorbed nutrients are transported throughout the plant by the sap stream.

Urea-formaldehyde is the total Nitrogen source, supplying prolonged-release Nitrogen to the plant roots. Adequate quantities of available Phosphorus, Potassium and essential Iron complete the formula.

Soil bacteria acting on the surface of the tablets gradually convert the slow-releasing nutrients to a form that can be absorbed by the roots. The rate of conversion varies with the soil temperature, just as a plants requirement for Nitrogen varies each season.

7 good reasonsto use Agriform: • Can continuously feed the plant for up

to 12 months.• Perfect for re-vegetation and use in

heavy soils.• Labour costs & re-application

materials are reduced.• Allows for uniform and adequate

fertilization.• Surface weeds and grass receive no

nutrition.• Leach resistant properties of tablets

protect ground water from pollution.• Safe and easy application process.

Trace elements are essential for optimum growthOften the effect on plant growth of a shortage of trace elements is underestimated. To be able to grow, the availability of sufficient amounts of magnesium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, boron and molybdenum is essential and equally important compared to NPK. Even with a shortage of one single element, speed of plant growth will decrease.

Often the symptoms of shortages of trace elements are only recognized when damage has already occurred. Corrective actions often take a long time. Avoid problems by using the best trace element mix: Micromax Premium.

Micromax Premium guarantees sufficient availability of trace elementsDr. Whitkomb, liaised with the ‘Oklahoma State University’ in the USA and conducted trials with different combinations of trace elements. Out of a range of 80 different mixtures Micromax Premium was selected as best performing.

In commercial use, Micromax Premium performs well during long crop cycles and under difficult growing circumstances. After Micromax Premium is mixed into the growing medium, the trace elements are bound to the humus complex. Afterwards they become steadily available to growing plants.

Micromax Premium is a fine granular product which works for a full season, up to 16 months.

5 good reasonsto use Micromax Premium: • Avoids shortages by a well balanced

composition of all essential trace elements.

• Stimulates the rooting and forms a basis for healthy plant growth.

• Perfect startup effect. Long lasting supply of trace elements to the plants, a full season, up to 16 months.

• Improved crop color because of the high iron and magnesium content.

• Easy and safe to apply by mixing it into the growing medium.

Why choose Peters? Why should you choose Peters fertilizers? And what are the advantages of using Peters products? Here are 3 reasons:

Peters takes account of your water quality

Peters leads the way technically and is of the highest quality

Only Peters fertilizers contain M-77

Peters takes account of your water quality

You can choose the right Peters formulation for your water – hard, neutral or soft. Peters has high levels of purity and solubility. But the Peters fertilizer concept goes beyond the provision of nutrients. Only Peters uses the ‘M-77’ ingredi-ent.

This gives you maximum certainty that the nutrients end up where they are needed: in the plant. The result is a fast response following application and a perfect crop! You can see the effects instantly.

Water quality is of crucial importance: Peters has the answer! The influence of the quality of the irrigation water is still underestimated. In fact, the compo-sition of the water serves as a starting point for a fertilization plan.

Hard water requires correction for the bicarbon-ate present in the water; soft water contains insufficient calcium and magnesium, essential elements for healthy plant growth.

Peters responds to these factors and improves the results of your fertilization plan.

Choose the right Peters on the basis of the composition of your waterPeters Professional gives good results regardless of the composition of your water. If you want the best for your plants and you have particularly hard or soft water, choose Peters Excel.

– the grower.

Trace elements, the key to the best growthOptimum growth can only be achieved if a plant has access to all the required trace elements. Everris has taken a good look at the trace elements in Peters products. The result is a renewed, well balanced combination of trace elements that meets requirements even under the toughest conditions.

Peters always contains a full range of trace elements. Iron, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, copper and boron are included as standard in all Peters formulations (with the exception of the ‘No B’ and ‘No Zn’ products). This trend began with Peters several years ago and has proved to be successful.

The levels of each of the trace elements has been modified to insure they are at the optimum level, based on latest research results.

Peters is once again ready to fulfil your highest requirements.

Peters: the specialist for pot plant and bedding plant crops!Everris has developed Peters specially for use with pot plant and bedding plant crops. The use of pine bark, coir or peat based substrates in pots makes special demands of the fertilizer used. Whether the issue is NPK levels or trace elements, using Peters guarantees you optimum results.

Important:Everris supports users of Peters fertilizers with technical advice by a specialized team of Everris fertilization advisers. Call Everris to arrange a visit or contact us through your fertilizer supplier.

New formulations in response to changing situationsThe Peters line of products has always offered solutions for specific cultivation situations. New improved formulations have now been added to the range, enabling Everris to fit in better with the daily activities within your company. For further information, please refer to the product table.

Effective and safe due to high level of purityPeters is known for its excellent level of purity. Impurities are at a uniquely low level. This results in problem-free growth of plants and maximum safety!

Optimum absorbtion thanks to top quality chelatesChelates are important for the absorbtion of trace elements. Peters contains the most optimised chelates, thus guaranteeing a well functioning system even under difficult circumstances, for example if the pH value of the substrate is not optimum. Peters also contains M-77. Everything revolves around the absorb-tion of nutrients by the roots, and M-77 ensures optimum availability and guarantees effective nutrient uptake.

Choose the formulation that is best for you. Peters has a solution for everything.Using Peters gives the best results, particularly if you choose the formulation specially designed for each growth phase. Every growth phase has specific fertilization requirements, which is why Peters has developed modified formulations for every growth phase. There is always a Peters formula that meets the crops current needs perfectly. The icons on the packaging clearly indicate the cultivation phase for which the product is intended. It is not only the phase of the plant that is important; a dif-ficult situation sometimes also requires a special product. A range of special formulations ensure that the problems associated with these chal-lenges also becomes a thing of the past.

New packaging with clear user informationAs a grower, you want clear product informa-tion. The new improved Peters range makes use of icons in order to indicate the application type of each formula, giving you clear information at a glance.

Only Peters fertilizers contain M-77!M-77 is an important component in Peters. This Everris innovation optimises the availability and absorbability of all nutrient elements according to the principle: ‘it is not just about what you offer a plant; it is primarily about what the plant absorbs.’

The strength and formulation of M-77 is a combination of ingredients. The effects of these ingredients ensure that nutrients remain avail-able to the plant and optimise absorption. The combined action of a good availability of nutri-ents and optimum conditions directly around the roots make M-77 an indispensable component.

27-6.5-10 Foliar Feed If the absorption by the roots is not ideal for whatever reason, a foliar feed

can offer a solution. The Peters range features a perfect foliar feed in the

27-7-10+TE Foliar Feed. The high urea content and the specially modified

complement of trace elements makes this product the ideal foliar feed for the

cultivation of pot plants and bedding plants.

Peters Excel ¹ 15-2.2-12.5

Everris- TIP! Talk to your Everris Regional Sales Manager to arrange a Rout demonstration and start saving time and money in your nursery.

58

Rout has eliminated your weeding problems for over 25 years, providing the confidence you desire to prevent weed germination in your pots. No guessing, no gimmicks, just the trusted formula you know and rely on.

The most cost-effective pre-emergent herbicide on the marketRout is a safe, effective and economical pre-emergent herbicide that controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf and grassy weeds. With Rout, valuable nutrients can be used by your plants, not wasted on weeds. Your plants will be stronger, greener and healthier.

Rout pre-emergent herbicide is specifically designed for nurseries and landscaping to control weeds around:•   container-grown ornamental trees and shrubs•   contained garden beds and pots•   field-grown ornamental plants

Broad controlRout combines the action of two proven herbicides in one granule. This unique combination results in broader spectrum pre-emergent weed control of both broadleaf and grassy weeds, controlling five times as many weed species as its main competitor*. One application controls sixty five weeds for up to three months.

Save time and money with RoutWeed control with Rout costs less than alternative control measures. The correct use of Rout saves you time and labour costs by drastically reducing the need to handweed containers and garden beds. With the time saved by not needing to weed, you are free to do what you do best: caring for and nurtur-ing plants and gardens. Rout’s effectiveness at half the application rate of its main competitor* brings additional economic benefits.

Note: Ideally when applied over the top of the crop, Rout should be applied when foliage is dry to pre-vent granules sticking to the plant. If necessary wash off leaves after Rout application.

Tips for optimum Rout performance• Avoid applying when small plants

are putting on a flush of growth or breaking dormancy.

• Ensure there is plenty of air movement around the plant.

• Apply at least two weeks before moving plants to a greenhouse.

• Low growing soft annuals and perennials may experience leaf scorch.

Rout application1. For best results, water

plants before application to settle and firm down the soil.

2. When foliage is dry, evenly distribute granules at the correct application rate over the entire soil surface.

Locks out weeds for longerCombines the action of two herbicides in one granule resulting in broad spectrum, pre-emergent weed control of broadleaf and grassy weeds.

Application made easyEverris provide the tools to determine the correct rate and distribution and to increase accuracy and efficiency of application. The Rout Calibra-tor and Rout Shakers are available free from your local Everris Distributor.

Everris HandyGreen spreader applies Rout to larger areas quickly and evenly.

The Rout Shaker enables application around sensitive plants avoiding gran-ules catching on foliage.

The Application Rate Cali-brator assists in determining correct rate and distribu-tion.

Proven through trialsTrials prove that Rout prevents seed germination and subsequent weed growth. In the trial below Rout was applied to centre area. No herbicide was applied to the outer area.

Ideal distribution:18-20 particles per square inch (6.45 cm²).

Everris- TIP! Sierraron granules, aided by moisture, disintegrate and release their active ingredient, forming a barrier in the soil. New weeds hit the barrier and die off and existing weeds draw from the barrier and die off.

60

Sierraron is a proven pre-emergent weed controller that continues working for up to six months. Sierraron is recommended for use on such areas as fence lines, paths, driveways, and field, park & production area perimeters.

Sierraron is about saving you timeRecurrent weeds need recurrent attention, and it’s well known that most organisations whose job it is to maintain the appearance and health of industrial and community grounds and parks find weed control a time consuming and endless task.

Sierraron is a proven pre-emergent weed control solution that continues working for up to six months when applied correctly.

Sierraron boasts minimal potential for run-off or leaching, and because of its granular form is easy to ap-ply, without the risk of spray drift. Sierraron should become part of your preventative weed maintenance program.

A much needed extra hand for weedingSierraron is an extra resource for weed control to be used in conjunction with current weed management systems. Sierraron extends your weeding effort – simply weed, and then apply Sierraron for 6 months protection from weed growth.

It should be noted that Sierraron is not ideal for every situation. As Sierraron works close to the surface, it has little or no impact on deep-rooted and established trees, however Sierraron should not be used near young, recently planted or shallow-rooted plants and shrubs.

Ideally, it should be applied in Autumn, Winter and early Spring when lower temperature conditions assist in Sierraron’s effectiveness.

6 good reasonsto use Sierraron: • Eliminates most annual and perennial

broadleaf weeds and grasses.• A single application provides season-

long weed control.• Easy to apply ready to use granular

formulation.• Active ingredient binds strongly to the

soil, minimising the potential for run-off or leaching.

• Classified as a non-hazardous chemical.

• As long as soil is present, Sierraron goes to work after watering in.

61

How it worksPositively (+ve) charged Sierraron particles are attracted to negatively (-ve) charged soil colloids and adsorbed on contact. This process ensures there is minimal run-off into waterways.

Sierraron is absorbed by weed roots and prevents cellulose biosynthesis at the root growing points, causing death.

The hidden weed managerFor most other herbicides to be effective, weeds have to first emerge. Spraying them results in unsightly dead weeds and alerts the public that a herbicide has been used, such as in the case when trucks spray road-side weeds.

The advantage of Sierraron is that after the initial weeds are eliminated, it works below the surface, unseen.

Works over there, now works over hereExtensive testing by Everris in Europe has shown conclusively that Sierraron works more effectively to control most common weeds than the treatments used traditionally by councils and commercial land-scape contractors.

Consequently, Sierraron has become a standard addition to the weed maintenance program of many European councils for over a decade.

Sierraron also fits perfectly into the Australian federal, territories and state governments’ Australian Weeds Strategy.

Deliver dependable, long-lasting control of damping off and root and stem rot soil pathogens on a wide range of bedding, foliage and container plants.

Key features and benefits• Banrot is fungicidal, not fungistatic.

It kills rather than suppresses target pathogens.

• Broad spectrum eliminates the need for separate fungicides.

• Significantly less soluble than other fungicides, reducing potential problems from leaching.

• Application flexibility with the WP formulation suited for drench application whilst the G formulation allows for incorporation, sidedressing and broadcast application.

• Provides systemic and contact activity on target pathogens, root and stem fungi for up to 8 weeks.

Proven disease protection

Proven disease protection available to Australian and New Zealand growersBanrot delivers dependable, long lasting control of damping off and root and stem rot soil patho-gens on a wide range of bedding, foliage and container plants.Banrot has proven itself to be the single most effective broad spectrum soil fungicide product in the USA providing both systemic and contact activity.Where broad spectrum soil pathogen control is needed, Banrot provides proven protection you can count on.

At planting and potting-up timeAlthough Banrot 400WP can be used as a drench anytime throughout the crop cycle, it is especially important to apply Banrot at the time of initial planting and when potting-up.Treatments can be made either as a drench or incorporation with Banrot 400WP (Wettable Powder) or by incorporating Banrot 80G (Granu-lar) directly into the growing medium.

Banrot offers protection at these critical times and allows plants to develop new and active root growth quickly, so important in getting plants established.

Did you know … Crown is relatively soft on many beneficial insect1 e.g. 300× less toxic via contact and 2000× less toxic via oral than its closest competitor on honey bees2.

64

A systemic insecticide that works both on contact with target pests and systemically through root and leaf uptake.

Crown is designed for quicker and more effective control of sucking insects and fungus gnats. In trials with fungus gnats, Crown exceedingly outperformed other conventional formulations.Crown is exclusively developed for use in ornamental horticulture and highly effective on sucking pests; acting on eggs, larvae and adults. It is best to apply Crown in the spring when plants start new growth and insects begin to emerge.

Puts pests in their placeCrown is easy to mix and even easier to apply. For the best results, use Crown in Spring, when your plant begins new growth and insects start to stir.

6 good reasonsto use Crown: • Completely systemic through root and

leaf uptake.• Also works on contact with the target

pests.• 100% knockdown within 50 minutes

on many target pests.• Provides effective control even at low

application rates.• Can combine with older insecticides to

prevent resistance build-up.• Use Crown as a drench for effective

fungus gnat control. Refer to label for complete directions for use.

Targeted insect control, soft on many beneficial insects

Triple action controlCrown works both on contact with the target pests and systemically through root and leaf uptake. The result is faster knockdown for longer.

Additionally, very low con-centrations are required for effective control.

Being a new technology formulation, Crown will be useful in rotation with other older insecticides to prevent resistance build-up in the target pest.

Everris- TIP! Use Procide in rotation with insecticides from different resistance groups for complete insect control.

66

An advanced, very broad spectrum contact and residual suspension insecticide and miticide, safe for all ornamental plants.

6 good reasonsto use Procide: • Ideal preventative.• Less pesticide into the environment.• Low risk of plant phytotoxicity.• Fewer spray applications needed.• Monitor pests and use as a knockdown

as needed.• No additional surfactants needed.

Broad range insect & mite control

Not available in NZ

80SC

Procide is an advanced, contact and long residual suspension concentrate insecticide and miticide for use on all ornamental plants.

A smarter weapon against insect and mite pestsDue to the fast knockdown activity of Procide it is a lower cost alternative to systemic insecti-cides, enabling you to monitor pest levels and deliver a fast acting knock down application to targeted areas.

Procide is ideal as a preventative application during known higher insect activity times. A fortnightly application ensures full protection against target pests.

Longer residual activityProcide uses an advanced pyrethroid chemistry that is light stable. This provides significantly

longer residual activity; reducing spray frequen-cy and therefore the total amount used to com-pletely protect your crop. Less sprays needed means lower overall costs of insect control and less pesticide entering the environment.

Faster actingThe pyrethroid chemistry in Procide has more insecticidal activity than other classes of insecticides, such as organophosphates and carbamates. Procide acts faster to control target insects, even at low rates.

Safer on plantsProcide is formulated as a Suspension Concen-trate (SC) without harsh solvents. This means that Procide is safe to apply to plant foliage with a minimal risk of burning.

Page 69: Everris Fertilizer & Plant Protection Guide

67

Cautions for useDo not use in situations where predatory mites are established and are already providing effec-tive mite control.

Do not apply if rainfall is expected before spray deposits dry on leaf surfaces.

Smart in useProcide contains an effective surfactant to aid in wetting of foliage and complete contact with target pests.

A new generation wetting agent in granular and liquid form for better nursery, turf and landscape results.

For immediate and long term responseThe improved dual-action formulation of Hydraflo 2 and the easy-to-use granules deliver immedi-ate action as a topdress application and improved efficacy incorporated in soils and potting mixes over a longer period of time. Hydraflo L is a liquid soil wetting agent that is as safe for use on delicate ornamental flowering plants as it is on turfgrass greens, sportsfields and lawns.

The ideal summer rewetterHydraflo effectively decreases water surface tension aiding the successful rewetting of soils in dry summer periods, eliminating localised dry spots and increasing the uniformity of wetting throughout the soil profile. By allowing for better water penetration and absorption, Hydraflo helps grow deeper stronger roots.

The ideal winter drainerHydraflo encourages free drainage from water logged soils in winter and during heavy rainfall. This inhibits surface moss, algae growth and soil borne pathogens. When water logged soils drain, air is allowed into the root zone enabling the plant to take up valuable nutrients.

Hydraflo 2Granular soil wetting agent• Easy to apply as a topdress or to
