Perform Joint palpations

With the patient in a seated position. palpate the sternoclavicular joint, the acromioclavicular joint, the anterior joint line, the long head of the biceps/bicepital groove, spine of the scapula, supraspinatus muscle belly and tendon, infraspinatus muscle belly and tendon
Perform resisted testing of shoulder flexion, abduction, internal rotation, external rotation

The patient is seated. The examiner passively moves the shoulder into mid-‐range of each of the motions to be tested and the patient is asked to hold against resistance for 3-‐5 seconds
Perform periscapular strength testing

The patient is positioned prone. The examiner passively moves the shoulder into end-‐range of the motion to be tested and the patient is asked to hold against resistance for 3-‐5 seconds. Muscles typically tested are the upper, middle, and lower trapezius and the rhomboids
