Every child has a right to happiness, these poor little Orphans received happiness through the g reat generosi ty and love of these wonderful Men am novl, you, dear Friends are joining them in this unprecedented humanitarian ( project. From tre tottom of our hearts receive our deep gratitude.

Our 165 children Jom us in wishing you everything of the best, Health, Happiness and Prosperity.

Yours very g ratefully,

AN EDITORIAL on the Letter from Japan I We reconnnend, at the least, a second reading of Sister l-Iartin's

letter expressine the appreciation of the Holy Family Name Orphanage for the Club 100' s contribution to tre orphans of Osaka. Read it the second time rith a mental picture of the orphans before you -and we guarantee that you'll feel that lump in your throat.

THIS IS PART OF T HE KIND OF REWARD WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT ALL ALONG. WE SUGGESTED, AND URGENTLY RECOMt~mED, IN OUR lILARCH EDITORIAL "PIE IN THE SKY" THAT WE HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE OF OUR OWN BACK YARD IF WE REAlLY MEAN WHAT WE SAY ABOUT "FOR CONTINUING SERVICE."

We suggested that t he various chapters "adopt" certain welfare recipients in our connnunity as a start to practicing "continuing service." Coincidentally , Jack Teehan, that outstanding journalist for the Advertise r , also propos ed the adoption idea in an article ti tled "Let's Be Foster Parents." Mr. Teehan's idea is on the grand scale: Hawaii "adopting" one of tre far-eastern countries, as another step in the med far better East-West relations. II

Who can but tell that if the Club 100 ever does get rolling, we may generate so much steam that we will carry others along \'lith us, by the sheer force of our energy. This is something that tre President, the Board of Directors, and ea ch of us should give s one serious thinking.

FOR THE NEDICS, March 13 was "Family Night", which event was attended and enjoyed by t he following and their families: Masaichi Goto, Shigeru Inouye,Walter Inouye, Etsuo Katano~ Genichi Masumotoya, David Nakagawa, Henry Nakasone, Fred Nakayama, Seiji Nomura, Shinobu Tofukuji, Bob Tamanaha, Albert Yokoyama, Frank Shigemura, George Zakimi and Bob Sato.

SURPRISE AND \ ELCOME appearances came in the form of Walter Inouye, Frank Shigemura and Bob Tamanaha . Frank \iaS last seen, some years ago, at some teahouse affair, trying to figure out why it was that his lemon soda wasn I t tasting right. That night, the soda was finished j and. so \iaS he.

AS FOR BOB, he sulked right out of Varsity Bowling Center after missing a la-pin spare in the last frame of the last game. And that was when tffi Medics had a team in the club league .

RASHOMON - 'loa breeze in the forestoe~&I··

Dark, dark, darlmess. As the stage' lights slowly illumine the Rashomon Gate and t he three who are discussing a double crime of rape and murder, your mind focuses upon recent events. You begin to wonder then whether time (the time of the play is a thousand years ago in Kyoto) really improves man I s thinking, his dignity, or anything else - or is civilization only a cycle over whim man has no control - and that what has happened a thousarrl years ago Will happen again today; or what has happened ten thousand years ago has the same application in our time,

We are not here to review the playas ruch. Much has already been written about the play, and those of you ,'lho have been fortunate in having seen the pJ.ay will agree that this is a classic presentation. The Honolulu Community Theater is to be given a host of accolades for presenting Rashomon. With all the massive means of cornmunicati on available to us toda;)", a plCliY' of this caliber is like a small voice out of our present day cacophony of sounds. And like the "breeze in the forest" which led to the crime, so the play itself is like another kim of breeze ,,[mch brings freshness to sight and mind.

In Nara (which became Kyoto), the Rashomon Gate lay outside the I road at tre end of a three- mile long avenue leading out of the CitY'1 The gate symbolizes the long path which man rrrus t travel in the ir search for truth.

So what is truth. Your pastor wi 11 point to a new born babe as representing that innocence and cleaness unclouded by man-made
