Macroevolution: formation of new species

• Allopatric Speciation: formation of new species due to geographic (physical) barrier

• Sympatric Speciation: formation of new species due to genetic mutation or reproductive isolation (although they occur together)

• Adaptive Radiation: formation of new species due to new opportunities (niches)i.e. islands
