EyeLiner

EyeLiner is the larger and most popular of Musion’s product offerings. There is no practical size limit to the Eyeliner as the screen can be to up to 100m wide. Standard apparatus tend to be 4m – 10m wide and 4m – 7m deep. Typical image size from a single projector is approximately 5m wide by 3m high (conversion: 1m = 3.3 feet).

The system incorporates a ‘performer’s stage’ that is equipped with state of the art LED lighting and is usually boxed with hard paneling or dark draping along the sides and back of the system. The EyeLiner polymer screen sits on a 45˚ angle between the stage and the audience and at least one high powered, high definition video projector is mounted in front of the foil, projecting onto either the floor or ceiling depending on foil orientation.

EyeLiner is designed to work in public performance areas such as concert venues, theatres, exhibition centers, nightclubs, marquees, large office environments, retail stores and TV studios.

The EW4D-Musion filming room provides individuals and organizations with an in-house professional HD broadcast standard image capture ‘cabin’ – similar in principle to a passport photo booth in that the equipment and talent space is pre-configured to work automatically, allowing keynote speakers to produce fantastic looking HD presentations simply and cost effectively.

The EW4D in-house facility fully is equipped with lighting, HD camera, HD monitors, set and stage for perfect holographic content management. Filming is in ‘high definition’ (minimum 1920 x 1080 resolution) using a single 3 chip HD broadcast quality camera.

 

 

Fire Retardant Foil

One of the keys to EW4D-Musion’s current and future success is the unique flame-retardant; optically clear polymer foil that is used to create amazingly life-like Musion3D holographic projection. The ‘optically-clear’ quality of the foil enables Musion to replace the delicate pane of glass, which was traditionally used to produce the Pepper’s Ghost effect, with an ultra-thin, easily transported and easily-rigged foil that produces a far higher-quality 3D image.

The ‘flame-retardant’ quality of the foil is essential because the vast majority of Musion’s installations are in venues that are very concerned about fire safety. Every year, some 70,000 to 80,000 people die in fire accidents in about 7-8 million fires worldwide. Many of these deaths occur in public entertainment venues fitted with flammable materials. Flame-retardant, optically clear foil is a relatively new product. It is manufactured exclusively by the German – Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Polyester Film GmbH (MPF). MPF is the pioneer in the development and manufacture of non-halogenated foil; a far more eco-friendly process than the older brominated flame-retardants used in the U.S.

Digital Resurrection

EW4D-Musion has the amazing ability to create 3D virtual images from existing 2D video assets (8mm, 16mm, 35mm HD material). By re-purposing existing video, it is possible to create life-like holographic images and videos of celebrities, politicians, dignitaries, and other significant figures.

Numerous post production techniques are available to enable the re-creation of past performances into Musion 3D holographic shows. Particularly useful is the process of ‘rotoscoping’, which ‘cuts out’ the background of each video frame leaving only the subject. If necessary, ‘digital’ body doubling can be used to enhance or replace any footage of the performer’s head, legs, or torso that is not present or is of low quality. Using this effect, Musion produced a digital resurrection of Frank Sinatra appearing on a live stage that was shown at Simon Cowell’s birthday party. Applying the same principles but using photo-realistic animation instead, Hollywood special effects company Digital Domain produced the incredible Tupac Shakur performance at the Coachella music festival in Los Angeles, April 2012.

Of course, once this Musion footage is produced it can be saved to a digital master file, just like any pre-recorded footage, and is available to be shown multiple times in multiple locations.

EW4D-Musion 3D Content Creation

EW4D-Musion fully utilizes the potential of 3D animated content to engage a wide spectrum of target audiences. The ability to project a life-sized car, or aircraft components, gives an immersive product experience; as though audiences are experiencing the real thing. These displays can be made interactive with the help of motion capture user-friendly interface or even with passive inferred sensors. Filming

Motion  Capture  

Motion Capture technology records movement created by a person to later be used on a 3D animated character. This method of animating human movement makes the character movement considerably life-like; a thrilling and truly fantastical experience for the audience.

Live motion capture can further enhance the effect. A person can be onstage talking to an animated 3D character that can respond in real time.

EyeCandy

EyeCandy, a much smaller, more intimate version of EyeLiner, uses technology similar to EyeLiner and offers a more portable and cost effective solution for simpler events and venues. EyeCandy is a point-of-sale display designed to work in areas of high ambient light such as trade shows, corporate reception areas, shopping centers, airports and retail environments, including shop windows.

The standard EyeCandy unit, using a compact high-definition projector, is 3m high x 3m wide x 2m deep with an image size that is 2.4m wide by 1.6m high. It is modular, easy to brand, uses standard 13 amp power and requires just two technicians and only 4 to 6 hours to rig and de-rig. The units can be easily configured to provide audience interactive services and even e-commerce transactional processing. EyeCandy is suitable primarily for video-only shows because, as a rule, live interaction on stage is not possible.
