Welcome

Dear Colleagues

This course will address the critical area of soft-tissue architec-

ture.Itisdesignedtoprovideclinicianswiththeknowledge,skill

setsandconfidencetoperformsoft-tissueaugmentation.

Thecourse isdesignedforclinicianswith foundational implant

experiencewhodesiretoimprovetheirknowledgeandsurgical

skill sets in soft-tissuegrafting for implant dentistry. Themain

focuswillbetheoptimizedsoft-tissuearchitectureforimplantsite

developmentandthesurgical implantplacement inthecritical

area.

Atthebeginningofthecourse,theentirespectrumofourbasic

andadvancedmicrosurgicalconceptwillbepresentedinclud-

ing soft-tissue reconstruction and related periodontal plastic

surgical procedure. A dedicated section of this course will

address dental implants in the esthetic zone. Application of

hands-ononpigjawsandlivesurgicaldemonstrationsofsoft-

tissueproceduresforimplantdentistrywillbefeatured.

Prof. Dr. med. dent.Markus HürzelerMunich, GermanyGraduated1984inZurichandreceivedthedegreeofDr.in1986

attheUniversityofZurich;receivedhiscertificateasSpecialistin

Periodontics in 1993 (Swiss Society of Periodontology), the

Docent(AssociateProfessor)degreein1996fromtheDepartment

ofProsthodontics,Albert-LudwigsUniversity,Freiburg, Germany,

andhiscertificateinProsthodonticsin1997(GermanSocietyof

Prosthodontics). He is currently practicing periodontics, and

implantdentistryinMunich,Germany,andisClinicalAssociate

ProfessorattheAlbert-LudwigsUniversityofFreiburg,Department

ofOperativeDentistryandPeriodontology,andClinicalAssistant

Professorat theUniversityofTexas,Houston,DentalBranch,

DepartmentofStomatology.

Dr.Hürzelerhasproducedmorethan100scientificpublications

within the fieldof implants,periodontology, and tissue regen-

eration and is a regular national and international lecturer. His

specialresearchinterestsareinimmediateloadingofimplants,

tissueregenerationwithgrowfactors,andtherapyofperi-implant

lesions.

Dr. med. dent.Otto ZuhrMunich, GermanyDr.OttoZuhrstudieddentistryattheUniversityofAachenfrom

1986until1992.In1992hereceivedhisDMDfromtheDepartment

ofOralandMaxillofacialSurgeryinAachenandstartedtowork

as a dentist in Munich.

SeveraleducationalprogramsledhimtoSwitzerland,Scandinavia

andUSAduringthefollowingyears.From1999to2008heworked

together with Drs. Bolz, Wachtel, and Hürzeler and became

an associate member in the Institute of Periodontology and

Implantology(IPI)inMunich.

In 2009 he founded a new clinic together with Marc Hürzeler.

OttoZuhr haswritten several articles in the fieldofperiodon-

tology and esthetic dentistry and is lecturing nationally and

internationally.

In 2001 he received his Specialist in Periodontology of the

GermanSocietyofPeriodontology (DGP).Since2007hehas

beenaboardmemberoftheGermanSocietyofPeriodontology.
