INCREASING INCLUSION

Changes in the demography, ways of life and environment create novel challenges for health promotion. In cooperati-on with different actors, TUAS’ research, development and teaching activities develop innovative models of operation and practices to promote people’s mental, physical and social health. According to the national focus areas, the targets are ways of life and the healthiness of different environments, preventing accidents and infectious diseases and decreasing the differences in health between demographic groups.

Increasing inclusion is one of the focus areas of TUAS’ strate-gy. Inclusion is an essential means to prevent social exclusion. Being included in a society means that everyone has an op-portunity for health, education, work, livelihood, apartment and social relationships. Participation is one route to experience inclusion. At TUAS, we work with organisations and the third sector to increase the inclusion and well-being of individuals and groups with different measures. We aim to increase the well-being of children, youths, adults and seniors.

With active research and development activities, TUAS par-ticipates in the development of the local, regional and natio-nal service network in social and health care together with cooperation partners in working life. We develop and imple-ment new, client-oriented methods and digital services toget-her with municipalities, governmental organisations, hospital districts, organisations and businesses. We also develop the competence of organisations and their personnel.
