God's Design for the Home


Husband & Wife Relationship


God created male and female. Matt 19:4,5

And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh' ?”



One man for one woman for life. Rom 7:2; 1 Cor 7:39; Matt 19:6

For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.




A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.




So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."

Resolve to Serve God


Consider Abraham and Joshua. Gen 18:19; Josh 24:15

For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.



And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, . . . But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.



The love of the father like the love of Christ. Eph 5:25-28


The way that the father will present his family acceptable unto God will be by leading his family in the commandments of God and teaching his family the law of Christ.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.


Set the Right Example

Consider the case of Timothy. 2 Tim 1:5When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.


Assemble with the saints as much as possible. Heb 10:24-25; 2 Tim 4:2

Do not subject the family to wicked influences. Psa 101:3; 1 Cor 15:33

Taught to use proper language. Eph 4:29

Taught to know how to discern right from wrong. Heb. 5:12-14

Your family must revolve around God.Living sacrifices. Rom 12:1,2; Eph 2:10; 1 Pet 2:9


Conclusion

To Have a Godly Home . . .Built on a husband & wife relationship.

A resolve to serve God.

Teach children God's word.

Set the right example.
