Using a live tree as an indoor Christmas tree is a wonderful way for you to enjoy the holiday season all year long. Many families have landscaped their properties and created years of wonderful memories by selecting and planting a live tree. Our selections include Baby Blue Colorado, Black Hills and Serbian Spruce varieties.

BEFORE THE HOLIDAYSBefore Christmas, store your evergreen outdoors in a shady area protected from harsh winter elements. Give it a day or two in a cool garage before moving it into your home to decorate. The hole the tree will be planted in should be dug before the ground freezes. We suggest that this is done before December 1st.

INDOORSIdeally, your Christmas tree should be brought inside a few days before Christmas, then removed a few days after. By limiting the length of time the tree spends indoors to no longer than 7 days, you greatly reduce the stress the tree suffers. When moving the tree back outdoors, acclimate it for two days in a cool garage before planting. When trimming the tree, use a limited number of miniature lights to prevent excessive heat which may dry out the needles. As long as your live Christmas tree is indoors, check the soil and water thoroughly when necessary. In addition, we have potted Alberta Spruce which can be placed in your outdoor planters for the holiday season.

We have both LED and incandescent lit trees in clear or multi colored bulbs. We even have a few trees that switch from clear to multi for those undecided families. Did you know that all the poinsettias we sell are grown at our Bordine Farm in Grand Blanc, MI? From table top to floor plants they are a holiday staple. There are many traditional varieties and colors to choose from as well as the non-traditional colors of our painted poinsettias. Use Poinsettias to decorate your home or give them as gifts to teachers, co-workers and friends.

Table top Poinsettias are perfect for the bathroom or accent tables while larger Poinsettias make a great statement inside your front door and flanking your fireplace. Try some indoors on the steps to create a festive colorful path.

You can find Poinsettias many places, but none as sturdy and beautiful as those grown at the Bordine Farm in Grand Blanc. Growing Poinsettias is a tradition for us…we hope it’s a tradition in your home too!
