Dear Fellow Brother Knights, We know where we are going. Our compass clearly points the way to four destinations we willingly seek, Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
And these principles of our Order provide the framework for our Brother Knights and their families to execute stimulating programs in the areas of Church, Community, Council, Family Youth and Culture of Life.
Over the past years, Archbishop Duke Council 6855 has amassed a credible record of achievement in these areas which have benefited many….and the work will go on.
I am calling for a continued Team Effort……a full court press, with everyone stepping forward in a cooperative manner to do what we must do.
I ask for your prayers for the success of our collective efforts to live up to the principles of what our Founder, Fr.Michael McGivney has envisioned on us.
This month of November, let us remember our deceased brother knights who have gone before us. In their honour, there will be a Necrology Mass on November 21, 2010 at St. Paul Parish. Invitation will be extended to widows to attend this 9am mass and Brunch at Abercorn Inn, thereafter. I urge you to please partake on this event. Vivat Jesus !

OCTOBER 2010
KEVIN and BRIDGET MENDONCA With profound enthusiasm, Bro.Kevin Mendonca and wife Bridget has worked their way out in a well deserving recognition as Family of the Month for October. Since Bro. Kevin rejoined our council in the year 2008, he has since shown his worth of being a Knight. Now, a Fourth Degree member, he is considering to be one of the Honour Guards after seeing his fraternal brothers dressed in Regalia during the Canada Day.
Bro. Kevin in his new position as Deputy Grand Knight is all out in his active participation of the council, church and community activities. He involved himself in the picking and dropping off the newly Ordained Priests for their 3-days seminar last week. Bro.Kevin, acting as the Chair for the KofC 34TH year Anniversary and Awards Night had the Mendonca Family working. His wife, Bridget doing the Printing of Program, daughter Gabriella as the Videographer and led the guests in singing O’Canada, son Robert doing the work as an official photographer for the event and himself, entertaining as member of the KofC 6855 Band. Bridget, a mother of three, takes her time in welcoming the parishioners at the 9:00am Sunday Mass at St.Paul Church. She was instrumental assisting in the choreography of the 75th Years Parish Anniversary Entertainment for the Knights of Columbus and helps out in the 50/50 Raffle Ticket Sales of fundraising events.
Congratulations MENDONCA FAMILY and God Bless !!!
OCTOBER 2010
ERNESTO DANOOG A third degree knight, Bro. Ernesto joined the Order in year 2004 and since then has been actively participating in most of our council, church and parish community activities.
In the 4 months of this Columbian year, he has already brought in 3 catholic gentlemen to join the Order which totals to six since he joined our Council. Bro. Ernesto runs a family of Knights, his son, Romano and son-in-law, Raul Sagarbarria , both of whom are 3rd Degree Knights.
Aside from being a Team Member of the Monthly Pancake Breakfast, he also ushers regularly at the 12 noon Sunday Mass. Bro.Ernesto is one of those dedicated Knights who finds way in giving his assistance which was evident during the Closing Ceremony of the Inter Parish Community Basketball last October 30,2010 and in Pennies for Heaven, October 31st..
Congratulations BROTHER ERNESTO and keep up the good work!!!

Pope John Paul II gave the lay people of the Catholic Church the apostolic mission of reaching the
ideal of a Perpetual Adoration Chapel in each parish. At the request of Father Peter Chiang,
St. Paul’s Church opened its chapel on the Feast of Corpus Christi 1997. It was and continues to be an
endeavour made possible by many lay people.
The Adoration Chapel is kept open by the commitment of people who assume responsibility for one
hour a week. There are many who commit to two, three and even four hours a week to keep the
chapel open. Through the years many people have been heroic in their dedication to this apostolate.
The graces of committing one hour a week of one’s life are eternal. St. Paul spoke of this throne of
grace and mercy where “we can speak freely to God, drawing near to Him with confidence”
(Eph 3:20)
At present there are seven vacant hours and six hours that desperately need a second person. There
are many other hours that only have one person. This is a crisis situation for the chapel.
There are many drop-ins and the chapel is often full but without commitment it cannot stay open.
Every year prayer has strengthened the structure and we have been able to continue and we pray
that there will be new committed people this year.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to the Knights of our parish for expressing an interest in
supporting Perpetual Adoration.

Protect Their Insurability, Secure Their Future!
Needless to say, we, as parents, want what is best for our children … from creating a safe
environment, to the foods they eat, the schools they attend, activities they are involved in, and yes, in
helping them prepare for the future.
Much has been said about the advantages of life insurance for children in many articles from the
insurance industry, and I reiterate them here.
a) Guaranteed future insurability: In the unfortunate event that your child develops a medical
condition in the future, he or she would not be forced to pay higher premiums or, worse,
become uninsurable.
b) Lock in lower premiums: Buying a permanent policy for your child allows you to buy more
coverage at a much lower cost and keep the same premium for life.
c) Show the importance: By having life insurance on your child, you are showing him or her
the importance of taking care of loved ones.
d) Help plan for the future and create added opportunity: Someday your child will go off to
college, but a car, get married, buy a home, pursue a career or start a business. All of these
will involve some form of debt. A life insurance policy will help secure a loan with a lending
institution.
One brother knight who I visited some 3 years ago took a permanent policy for his daughter when she
was a still minor, but did not take the “Guaranteed Purchase Option” rider which would have allowed
her daughter to purchase additional insurance coverage in the future, if she needed to. Now the
daughter is married and has kids, but unfortunately developed some medical condition that made her
uninsurable. From this and similar experiences of brother knights and their families, the Order now
has made it mandatory that any new juvenile insurance policy that is issued must include the
Disability Waiver of Premium (waives the premium if the insured becomes disabled) and the
Guaranteed Purchase Option as riders.
I urge all brothers and their spouses who have minor children to think hard about this and, more
important, act right away.
I’m at 778-837-2317 or [email protected]. Call me – let’s talk.
