2017 has been another successful year for Intersolar South America. 220 exhibitors and over 12,000 visitors from 47 countries created a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, reflecting the developments in Latin America and in Brazil in particular. Solar prices have fallen drastically in South American auctions. Distributed generation is starting to gain a larger share of Latin America's solar market, particularly in Brazil, where net metering and other incentives are in place. However, utility-scale solar is the primary market driver due to a rapidly declining price trend. The continent is positioned to be one of the most attractive regions for solar development. Market analysts predict strong solar growth in several major South American markets such as Chile and Brazil. At the same time, new markets like Argentina and Colombia are emerging.
Since the high penetration of renewables in South America's future power systems will significantly increase the need for flexible operational measures, the focus on innovative energy storage solutions is rising. A circumstance that Intersolar South America serves with its special exhibition
"ees South America". In 2017 around 40 exhibitors of Intersolar South America showed electrical energy storage products as part of their portfolio.
As the most important platform for the industry, Intersolar provides the perfect environment for exhibitors to showcase their products and solutions. The conference sessions and workshops enrich the event with the necesarry insights, information and skills and the possibility to network with the keyplayers of the industry. In 2017 more than 1,500 solar experts attended the Intersolar South America conference to discuss all aspects of solar technologies and analyze market opportunities and business models for the industry.
Intersolar South America 2018 will feature again the special exhibitions ees South America and EnergyDecentral South America and be co-located with ENIE + ELETROTEC.
For 2018 even more visitors and exhibitors are expected – most returning exhibitors have announced that they will enlarge their booth space.
