Ann Maloney-Mason will have her work on display February 4-April 15, 2014. She received her teaching credential in Fine Art and Design from the Crawford Municipal College of Art and Design, in Cork City, Ireland. She has always been very attracted to pattern, line, and bright color and really enjoys the act of painting. She loves the color and the texture of the acrylic paint and is interested in lots of different subjects for her artwork. She experiences painting as a form of medi-tation. She is a member of A.R.T., Inc. in Castro Valley, and the San Leandro Art Association. Join her for an artist talk February 11 at 10:30 a.m.

Hayward Senior Center Marge Barta Atkins will have her work on display from Jan. 15—March 11, 2014.

In the early 1990's, she did nonobjective paintings--pouring liquid paints and inks over heavy French-made watercolor paper. Later, she began a series of flower paintings (mostly matilija poppies) using traditional transparent watercolors. She has since branched out adding landscape, buildings, still life's, etc., while concentrating more on composition. Re-cently she became excited about creating surface texture in acrylic collages and is looking forward to getting more sur-face texture into traditional watercolors by using rough and slick papers and imprinting various textures into the paint or

modeling pastes before they dry.
