EXPANSION MAP DAY!!

OVERVIEWYour group’s success will be determined by how well your group leader leads you, how well each member participates in the activities, and how focused your efforts

are.

Task- Your group must select a group leader.It is the group leader’s job to inform the group of the following and lead the group.

Part I- Maps, (10 minutes)Slowly, image by image, walk through each map, by holding each map up one at a

time AND discussing exactly what you see. You should also discuss, what was going on at this point in US history? (What meat?)

Part II- Questions and map construction (30 minutes) Using the worksheet “Westward Expansion Map Exercise”, members of the

group will answer the questions and reflect the changes on your map and begin constructing your own expansion map that shows all of the dates, treaties, and expansion. You may use your notes for the questions. All work must be done together as a group. Good luck, make sure those maps look great!
