DTV + Remote Labs
Digital TV (DTV)
Video Quality: HDTV, 1920p, 16:9
Audio Quality: 5.1 channels, 48KHz rate
Multiprogramming: a flow in HDTV or many flows in SDTV
Mobility: small TV`s and mobile devices with digital signal
Interactivity: the new layer from broadcast with data flow for
applications
iTV System
Levels of Interactivity (Soares; Barbosa, 2009)
Local Interactivity: App from data layer, only local navigations (interactivity channel not required)- World cup charts, programs info, static content
Unidirectional Interactivity: By the interactivity channel only simple responses go to broadcast- Quiz answer, researchs, voting reality shows
Bidirectional Interactivity: By the interactivity channel is possible send and receive content, without broadcast- Realtime news, weather forecast, dynamic content
Full Interactivity: By the interactivity channel, complex requests are possible, controls the programming and interacts with the broadcaster directly

Proposed Model
Proposed Model
Based in BBC Interactive Television
Style Guide (BBC, 2002):
- Sequence of color buttons
- Safe areas for visual and text contents
- Font family and size
- Usability patterns
Proposed Model
spatialknestheticlinguistic
Proposed Model
Conclusions
- The model is an alternative to traditional means of access
to remote labs
- It’s possible create DTV apps with FULL INTERACTIVITY
using remote experimentation
- It’s possible that remote labs and educational broadcasters
can be joined to provide the full interactivity through DTV
- The DTV and the remote control can be used to create
adaptive content for 3 of Gardner's multiple intelligences
theory
Further Researches
- To develop more apps for other remote
experiments
- Use the model in school environment
- Validate the model
- Unite the academic and broadcast industry
