The College does not tolerate bullying, physical violence or harassment in any form. The College’s anti-bullying policy promotes respect and tolerance of each other. Joining the community of MidKent College means that each student and member of staff agrees to uphold the Student Code of Conduct, which has been drawn up by students and you will receive a copy of during induction.
Cyber bullying is the term for any bullying which is done through the use of email, instant messaging, text messaging, blogs, mobile phones or on websites. Like bullying, cyber bullying involves frequent harassment of an individual. Any instances of cyber bullying will be treated as seriously as any other form of bullying under the Student Code of Conduct.
Powers to use reasonable force to restrain and to search for weapons
Colleges have been given powers to address incidents of actual or potential violence on campus. The powers allow staff to search students for weapons without their consent (or that of their parents or carers) when there are reasonable grounds for suspicion, subject to certain conditions:
> The search must be carried out on our premises or where a member of staff has lawful control of learners (e.g. on a trip)
> The member of staff conducting the search must be the same sex as you and there must be another member of staff of the same sex present during the search
> Anything found which a member of staff considers to be an offensive weapon will be seized and handed over to the police

The College is an adult environment and therefore has few regulations. However, the ones we have are important and are intended to ensure that everyone behaves reasonably and respects each other. We want you all to succeed and to enjoy the time you spend studying with us.Your help would be greatly valued in observing the following points highlighted from the regulations:
> Attend all lessons on time> Switch off your mobile phone and personal stereo in classrooms and the Learning Resource Centres> Consume food and soft drinks only in designated areas> Keep the Learning Resource Centres free of unnecessary noise> Help to keep all College sites clean and tidy by putting litter in the bins provided

> Don’t misuse the computer facilities - please pay careful attention to the guidelines you will be given when you are issued with your ‘user area’ for logging on
> Respect the fact that illegal substances are not allowed on College premises - please note that breaking this rule will result in expulsion
> Do not bring alcohol to the College> The College has a ‘No Smoking’ and
‘No Chewing Gum’ policy. Smoking is not allowed anywhere except in the designated areas clearly marked at each campus.
Observe the Student Code of Conduct, which has been drawn up by students as the rules they want everyone to comply with.

No Smoking Policy No Chewing GumMIDKENT COLLEGE IS ACHEWING GUM FREE ZONE
No chewing gum is permitted on any MidKent College Campuses. Cleaning gum off floors and furniture can cost a huge amount of money, and we would prefer to spend that money on fantastic resources for our students. So before entering any MidKent College Campus, bin the gum and help keep your College tidy!
