Intro & Overview

"

We have put together two extraordinary, intense, hands on training days. Our training materials are second to none as we take our 19 years of creative ministry experience and jam pack it into a student manual that will challenge your church in: Kids Ministry, Human Video, Garbonics (AKA Stomp), and Evangelism. This is open to your entire church to learn how exciting it is to reach people for Christ.

The next four days will be filled with ministry opportunities that specifically fit your community/area. There are those in your community right now who do not know Christ and our desire is to aide the church in its evangelistic effort to reach them. We believe that raising the level of God understanding in the community will bring about salvation as the seeds of salvation are watered by continual outreach.

This is your week to see your church get passionate about reaching the lost. This is your city and you know it best. Let us join together during this week to make a great impact that will last for all eternity. """First Day: Students from your church will be arriving along with other outside teams coming in. First thing we will do is pass out the training manuals and go through a brief orientation describing a few rules, regulations and the vision of your church for the surrounding community. "Training Days (Monday - Tuesday) These two days will be filled with training from approximately 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. each day.(times may change due to when MSC is being held) the One 18 staff & leaders will be training these students in, Garbonics (street percussion), Evangelism, Human Video, Apologetics, Puppets, Balloons and Kids Ministry. "Outreach Days (Wednesday - Saturday) The next four days we will be actively involved with connecting the church to the community. Flyer distributions, community clean up, Mega Sports Camp (3-5 days depending on the site), church projects, small park outreaches, block parties, movie nights and anything else that you would benefit connecting the church to the community is our priority. Then in the afternoons we will be at the parks and other outreach locations ministering to up to four back to back outreaches a day. At the end of each day we will return to the church to debrief and share testimonies. "The Departure (Saturday Night or Sunday) The teams will clean up and depart for home after the last outreach on the last day. The One 18 Team will load up all the equipment and will drive the teams to the airport if needed. "

One 18 Movement Expedition Overview The following is a brief description of a 7-day expedition

"Housing: Your will need to provide housing for your host site’s students and the incoming students to stay for the duration of the time One 18 teams are at your site. You can house them at your facility or set up Host Homes. The usual amount of students that come in from out of town arrange from 25-30 (depending on the limits you decide would best fit your location). This number does not include One 18 Leaders & Staff, which will be an additional 12 extra people. "Host Homes: Host homes should be families that attend to your church. If these host homes are willing to pick up and or drop off the students/leaders at the host venue each day it would be much appreciated, but not required. The One 18 leaders will pick up students/leaders who cannot get a ride. The dates for the housing will be first evening upon arrive to the last night. Host homes are required to pick up their students/leaders the first night of arrival and attend a short meeting to discuss the weeks details, and most importantly to thank them. If you decide to use host homes please send a list of host home names addresses and phone numbers to us so we can provide a master list to our drivers for transportations. Host homes will receive a schedule of our day-by-day activity so they will have an accurate understanding of what different activities go on each day. Each host home will also receive a gift from One 18 as a way of saying “Thank You”. "

"I have always appreciated the professionalism and creativity displayed by Jason Rising and the One 18 Movement. Additionally, any teams he has ever brought with him in ministry have not only been excellent, but they've been incredible servant-ministers."Rich JonesThe Element Church Pittsburgh, PA

"Church Facility: Facility must have access to showers. (We have the ability to set up tent showers outside as an option as well.) "There must be separate rooms available for boys and girls to sleep in. "Training Facility Use: We will need access to two large rooms that will rotate the following: "Training sessions Human video – accessible sound equipment Evangelism – accessible sound & recording equipment Kids Ministry – accessible sound equipment "Outreach Nights For days of outreach – Debriefing – accessible sound & recording equipment "**If rooms do not have accessible sound equipment we can use our traveling sound system. """""You will need to provide dinner meals for all 7 seven days of the expedition. This can be done through the church purchasing food and having volunteers come in to cook the food. Or you can have families sign up ahead of time to cook meals at their home to bring in. We have a list of meal options/ideas for families to cook so our team will get a variety of different meals during the week. "We will need access to your kitchen/ serving area for these 7 days to prepare and serve breakfast and lunch. We will do our best to work around your church’s schedule for cooking and serving lunch and breakfast. "" """"

Permits & Outreaches: The place in which the outreaches take place in is up to you as a pastor. (A One 18 Team member can come out to your location for a site planning day sometime before the scheduled event to help you asses the best possible locations in your area.) f you do not have parks in your area here is a list of a few ideas of what has worked in the past with us: "Block Party: We have had sites get permission to close down side streets for a few hours, and set up our equipment to reach out to the local areas and minister to them. Of course the Block parties work best in areas where you know there are at least 5 or 6 families with children. "House Party: If there is a family in your church who has a large enough property, and is willing to open it up for us, we would do a normal outreach outside to reach out to their neighborhood. "Local YMCA or Boys and Girls clubs. In the past we have had a lot of success with helping out with a club for a service. And though some of these places do not let us openly speak about the gospel this can be a great bridge builder between the community and the church. "The only contingency is that you must obtain permits for these places on the dates already set in order for us to these outreaches. The reason we ask for this is because in the past authorities have come to check for permits at our outreaches. Please do this at least 2 months in advance or whatever the city parks and recreation department requires. Our current plan for outreach dates and times are in the back of this packet. ""Flyers & Promotion: We can put together a standard flyer card for MSC and any outreach during our week with you, please let us know if you want us to design them for you and what details you would like on the flyers.

""

Permits/Outreaches & Extras

""We have to offer three different concession machines: cotton candy, popcorn and snow cone for use at any ministry event. We purchase all the supplies needed to run these machines before the ministry event for convenience. We have package options, for those that would like 2 concessions or all 3 concessions for their events. "See page 23 of packet to choose concession package for your event. "

How to prepare for the use of Concession Machines at Outreaches: "-Make sure to have garbage cans set up throughout the outreach area for people to throw away trash. -Have Signs made that say that the concession items are free. -Have one or two coolers set aside to keep the ice cold during the outreach. -Provide at least two tables for the concession machines to stand on. -Have assessable paper towels or wet wipes for the volunteers that will be running the snow cone machine (it can get a bit sticky working with the syrup) -Have 3-4 volunteers to run these concessions -Provide Ice for snow cone machine "

"Your church members are key to making this expedition work best for you church. We need the commitment of at least 10 students/young adults for these seven days. For every 10 students there must also be one adult leader that commits to helping during the week as well. "What students/young adults should expect: "

-Staying at the church for the entirety of the expedition (they do not get to leave for dr. appointments, sports games or family functions, they are to be committed for the entire time) -Prepared to be trained in: Human Video/Drama, Garbonics (Stomp), Kids Ministry,

Puppets, Evangelism, Apologetics and how to share your Testimony. -Many opportunities to minister to people in their own community. With all the different

ministry options we have available, your students will be doing non-stop ministry throughout the outreach days. -This will be an unforgettable week that you students will not just remember forever, but

that will change them forever!

Ministry Options Expedition

"Mega Sports Camp is a 3-5 day VBS style sports camp for those 5-12. We offered this program in the past to our sites and it has been a huge success in the communities. This is a great way for your church to hold a VBS(MSC) with the extra helpers on hands (Expedition Students and Expedition Leaders). There are a few things needed from the Host Site church in order to make this happen: " SNACK: Each day you hold Mega Sports Camp you will need to provide a snack & drinks for the MSC children. Crackers, fruit snacks, pretzels, Gatorade and water PARK: You will need a facility or a park that can hold all four sports: Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Cheerleading. -If the site that you use to host Mega Sports Camp does not have a public restroom open for the kids, we ask you to consider renting a Portable restroom for these days. We have found a company that costs $159.98 for the entirety of the camp. VOLUNTEERS for MSC: -Registration (Depending on how many kids pre-register it is good to have at least 2-3 volunteers especially for the first day or two of MSC. This helps your church people connect with the parents in the community.) -Coaches (You will need at least 4 coaches, one for each sport, basketball, football, soccer and cheerleading. You can replace any of these sports with another sport of your choice if you have a coach that is willing to teach kids the basics of the sport.) -Snack (You will need 1 or 2 volunteers, these can be registration volunteers that stay to help with snack as well, to help set up snack areas/station for each sports and check on each sports water station to see if needs to be refilled.) -Nurse (Look for an adult who has at least some basic medical knowledge. A nurse or EMT would be best, but an adult with first aid or CPR training is acceptable.) PROMOTION: Promotion to your community and to your church about the dates and times of Mega Sports Camp. You can promote using your local newspaper, Facebook, signs in front of schools or other popular areas that people drive by constantly. Also having a flyer to send to houses in the local community or go door to door with. Speak with an athletic director at your local high school to see if there are any young college athletes that would be willing to come for an hour to help share with the kids at MSC about character or respect. Then advertise this persons name when promoting the event to the community. REGISTRATION: During registration we would like to give each parent some kind of packet or information about your church. Make sure you have available some packet or card or even book for people who are registering for MSC. "

"

""Before MEGA Sports Camp Begins -Gather the first aid items you will need during camp. Supplies include plastic bandages, ice packs, elastic bandages, smelling salts, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial ointment, cleaning solution or soap and water to clean abrasions and scratches. -Develop a medical crisis plan and a written treatment protocol. -Most injuries will be minor, but be prepared for emergencies. -Check with your church’s insurance company to determine if the church is covered for a sports camp or if an additional policy rider is needed. -Determine who will notify the Safety Coach if a child cannot be taken to the Safety Area. (Huddle Coaches are a good choice) -Make copies of the Safety Log and Injury Report forms. -Include allergies and other concerns on the Registration Form. Make sure all athletes have a signed medical release before being allowed to participate. "At MEGA Sports Camp -Administer medical treatment calmly and compassionately. -Do not belittle a kid’s injury. Take it seriously even if you suspect the kid is just seeking extra attention. -Have at least one helper on hand when you administer aid to a kid. -Complete the information in the Safety Log before allowing the kid to return to the activity. Fill out an Injury Report for each kids parents. The Huddle Coaches can hand these out when the sign out their kids.

"Movie Night

Speaking The One 18 Movement has a staff of excellent speakers that will effectively communicate the gospel. We spend a lot of time crafting messages that have the unique ability to draw a crowd in and interact with the content being presented. We believe that a challenging message is needed today to shake up the church to realize the need for all of us to be apart of the evangelistic call to seek to save the lost both here at home and globally.

Movie Night is our newest option. We will have available to you, our outdoor inflatable screen to be able to show a movie and invite the entire community to come out for free to watch. Our screen has a 220” projection surface. Exquisite crystal clear 3d/HD picture with less projector lumen brightness. * 16:9 Aspect Ration "

How to prepare for a Move Night Outreach: " PARK: Pick a park, location for showing the movie is key to the location of your church and people in your community, it can be a grassy park or even a paved parking lot whatever you think fits your area best. After you decide on an area make sure to get a permit for it. Make sure the area you pick has some kind of lights outside so we are not in complete darkness at the movie begins at night. MOVIE: Pick a movie. You can purchase the rights to show the movie outside through www.swank.com the prices vary from $150 - $300 per movie depending on how new the movie is. PROMOTION: Promotion is also key for this event just like Big Block parties think of creative ways to advertise to your area (newspapers, blogs, signs, flyers etc). Use what resources you have and people you might know in your area to make this a big night for your area. "

" Community Service Projects

Small Park Outreaches

Community Service Projects are great ways to show the love of Christ through serving your community. You know your community best and if this type of service is something your area needs, then find some simple projects for the teams to do (painting, picking up trash, sweeping streets) whatever the task, we can help you accomplish it to show love to your community. "How to prepare for Community Service Projects: - Find the areas in the community that needs some TLC (tender loving care) get permission for your local authorities to have a service work project cleaning that area up. - If you would like help with any odd jobs around the church facility/property have those lined up for us to do as well. - The more projects you have planned the better, if a team gets done early we can always send them onto another project. -Make sure to have all the need tools and materials needed to complete each service project. For example garbage pick up in a local park or street corner have garbage bags (heavy duty, gloves (work gloves) and brooms and dustpans.

These outreaches can be held at a local park or if you do not have parks in your area choose a block (or someone in your church who has a little yard in the middle of a neighborhood) to have the outreach on. These outreaches do not need as much promotion as other outreaches we do. Most of the time kids are already at parks and we also send out part of the team to go around the surrounding area to tell people what we are doing. They only usually last up to 2 hours including set up and tear down, which gives us time to go to another park or location to set up for another outreach in your area so we can be able to reach a completely different area of your community. "

How to prepare for Small Park Outreaches/Block Parties: - Find as many as 5 different parks and or blocks to host these small outreaches at. - Get permits for all these parks and blocks from your local authorities at least 2 months in advance. - If you have time take a team out to pray over these parks before the One 18 Movement

teams arrives to do the outreaches. *If these parks are dirty or need some garbage clean up, we can do that either in the

morning if we have time in the schedule or during the outreach. **We also do not usually do outreaches after dark, so if a certain park or area has a bad

reputation for things going down at night, remember that we will only be there until dusk.

"This opportunity has been soo impacting with all the churches we have worked with in the past. "How to prepare for Small Park Outreaches/Block Parties: "

PROMOTION: is key to making this a successful block party for your community. If it is not promoted successfully it can turn into a party just for your church alone. - Flyers. Our team can go door to door with flyers during the week before the big event. - Newspaper. Put an ad in your local news paper for the event. - Email. Mass email newsletter to everyone in your church directory. - Signs. Get signs made that promote this event and post them everywhere, in people’s yards, in front of school whoever you get permission from. - Remember to promote that this event if free and everything we are doing there/giving away is free too FOOD: If you church would like to add more food to the event (such as hot dogs, chips etc) this would also add to the promotion of the event and the success. You can sometimes go to local stores and get good deals on buying these things in bulk from them and then let them know when you promote it that you will advertise their store in their promotion piece! ** Make sure to have plenty of garbage cans and bags available for people to throw their trash away. "ENTERTAINMENT: We will have puppet shows, Garbonics, drama, and dancing for everyone, but if your church would like to add another choice of entertainment (such as a local jazz band etc.) make sure to also advertise this band or entertainment when promoting as well. "PERMIT/PARK: Find a park or a Block that is large enough to host this event, sometimes churches will host this event on their church property, unless their church is not in a high traffic area or neighborhood. Then we try to find another park or area where we will be able to attract more people. * If the site that you use to host the ministry event does not have a public restroom open for the public, we ask you to consider renting a Portable restroom for these days. "COMMUNITY SPONSORS: If you would like to get other local business or churches involved in this event this is a great way to get free prizes to give away. Hit up your local pizza shop, fire station, or library etc…and find other community sponsors who would like to be involved in the day. "
