PALO VERDE WILDLIFE AND OBSERVATION TOURThe Palo Verde National Park is one of the best wildlife and bird watching spots in Costa Rica. Ride a boat down the river and get up close to the wild animals in their natural habitat. Iguanas, crocodiles, birds, monkeys, and bats are all active in this area. The tour takes 1.5hrs on the river and afterwards we will eat an authentic Costa Rican lunch. BARRA HONDA CAVESBarra Honda National Park boasts the only underground caves in Guanacaste region. These limestone caves are formed on its interior with stalagmites, stalactites and outstanding rock formations. The tour begins with a hike from the entrance of the national Park to the main cave named “Terciopelo”. As you walk through the forest, you may be able to spot some wild life and interesting plants and trees. At the cave, you will be harnessed and to climb down a 17mts vertical ladder to the bottom of the fist chamber. Inside the caves you will hear the sound of water dripping into the calcarium type of rock and you will visit two more chambers inside. *This tour is not recommended for people who are claustrophobic or afraid of the dark. **Minimum age: 10 years old.

TAMARINDO ESTUARYThis Estuary is part of “Parque Marino Las Baulas” a National Park that covers Playa Grande and Tamarindo areas. Get inside the mangrove on a 2-hour boat ride and look for all kinds of wildlife on its sides. The captain will take the boat threw the narrow canals of brackish water where you can spot crocodiles, iguanas, different kind of egrets and herons. Also, you get to take a short hike in the dry forest to look for the howler monkeys. A perfect activity to see wildlife in a short period of time.

ARENAL ADVENTURE DAY Arenal is one of the most popular places to get in touch with Costa Rica’s rain forest. Your private guide picks you up at 6am and the drive takes approximately 3:45 hrs including the time for breakfast on the way. After arriving, we start the day with an Ecological Hike, where we have the chance to see wildlife such as sloth, red frogs, caimans, birds, butterflies, and more. After this hike we take you to “La Fortuna Waterfall”, the most amazing falls in the area where you can swim if desire. Then we move to the hot springs area for a late lunch and to enjoy the tranquil relaxation of the natural hot springs.

VANDARA ADVENTURE DAY The Vandara Adventure Day is for people who like adrenaline, but not fear-for-your-life levels of adrenaline. This tour is recommended for all ages. Ride on horseback, zipline through the jungle, slide down a thrilling water slide, experience a local sugarcane exhibition, eat a delicious lunch, and reflect on it all in the hot springs and mud bath. RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA NATIONAL PARK (Las Pailas)Come to Rincón de La Vieja National Park to see the biggest active volcano in the region. Experience the volcano with a circular trail that takes around 2hrs to hike. The total length is about 3km. During the hike will see mud pots, boiling water pools, geysers, mini volcanoes and one seasonal waterfall depending on the time of the year. RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA NATIONAL PARK (Las Pailas & La Cangreja Waterfall)If you consider yourself a good hiker and active person, take your Rincón de La Vieja National Park experience to the next level by adding on a visit to ¨La Cangreja¨ waterfall. Located 5km from the entrance of the park, the hike takes 1h30 min. The trail to La Cangreja is closer to the mountain with several sections of up and down and the waterfall makes the hike totally worth it! RIO CELESTE AND SLOTH HIKEHike the base of Tenorio Volcano, one of the inactive volcanoes in the region. Over the course of this 2.5km hike, you will experience three different hanging bridges and walk through the primary and secondary forests, giving you a good feel for the different ecosystems that converge in this rainforest. After the hike, we will drive 10 minutes to Finca Verde, where a local family owns a property on which sloths can be spotted frequently and easy. We will eat a traditional Costa Rican lunch, and after we will walk the gardens to see sloths, butterflies, red-eye frogs, medicine plants, and other interesting animals at the reserve. On the way back, you have the option to take a quick city tour in Liberia to see how people live in this area. BROMELIAS WATERFALL HIKEIf you want to explore rivers and dense forward to find a hidden Costa Rican waterfall, this is the hike for you. The hike starts at the outskirts of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano in the park’s rainforest area. We will explore the more secret jungle locations most tours leave out, and you will learn everything about our rainforest, ecology and wildlife. The hike takes around two hours. We will enter a small river canyon with three waterfalls, one of which has warm water. You can jump in its natural pool if you’re trying to cool off. The last stop of the hike is the hot river pool where you can relax before we exit the forest and get ready for lunch. *Hike level: medium

DIRIA COFFEE TOURCosta Rica produces some of the best coffee in the world. With only a 1:30 drive you can see everything you need to learn more about one of the most important products of our country. At the beginning of the tour we will welcome you with a hot coffee, and at the end a cold drink made of coffee served alongside traditional snacks. Your guide will explain the entire process of growing coffee, including the picking, peeling, and roasting processes that coffee needs before we can drink it.

OSTIONAL PLAYA MINAS TURTLE NESTING TOUROstional is the primary turtle nesting beach in the Guanacaste region. Hundreds and sometimes thousands of turtles come here to lay their eggs at night, which we call “arrivadas”. Your guide will explain the turtles behavior in real time. You will also have the chance to see and be part of one of the most impressive natural phenomena in North America. This happens all year around, but peak time is during rainy season. From August through December “arrivadas” occur regularly once and sometimes even twice a month.

CULTURAL EXPERIENCE TOURAn opportunity to remember old times, how our grandparents used to live, and to experience their culture and traditions. The tour begins at the “Trapiche” (mill), where you will learn about the process of extracting sugar cane juice, and observe how an ox tied to a yoke makes a “needle” turn, so that the cane can fit inside the mill, and this how the juice is obtained. As a part of the experience, we will taste slices of sugar cane and its juice, “tapa de dulce” (raw sugar) and “sobado” (sugar cane candy). At the ‘Casa del Sabanero’, an old Guanacaste farmhouse, you will learn about the cultural traditions and ways of living of our ancestors.

RIO COLORADO WHITE WATER RAFTING CLASS II-IIIEnjoy this Class II-III float down the lower Rio Colorado (Colorado River, not to be confused with the river that flows through the Grand Canyon). Your guide will control the direction of the raft and help to paddle and balance the raft as you navigate a number of rapids, which peak with a small but fun 7ft drop. A buffet-style lunch will be served after the tour. You can also add a rock climb and rappel after the river ride if you find yourself wanting more adventure. Just let us know ahead of time if you would like to add the rock climbing section to this trip.

TENORIO RAFTING CLASS III-VThis is the most exciting rafting tour in the area. After a few practice strokes you will begin a thrilling 2 ½ hour whitewater trip that includes a 12 feet drop (class V). Due to the river’s topography; the rapids can be skipped if desired. Enjoy a snack on the river bank with fresh fruits, cookies, natural beverages and water. At the end of the tour we will drive back to the restaurant where you will enjoy lunch, coffee, and dessert before we head back to your hotel. This is a full day tour, you will get back around 4:00pm.
