Alzheimer Scotland aim -

• To be the national and local voice of and for people with dementia and their carers in Scotland being Scotland’s Leading Dementia Charity

• We campaign and provide services for people affected by dementia and we have -

• about 4,000 members who run our charity

• our freephone helpline is 24/7/365

• Have a network of Dementia Nurses, Advisors and Resource Centres and Services all over Scotland – making a difference for those affected by dementia

Experiencing dementia

Alzheimer Scotland believe -

• No one should go through dementia on their own

• Whether that be -

• The person with the diagnosis

• Those that love and support them

• Or the communities that they live in!

• The way others see us!

We all have rights!

• All people affected by dementia have the right to –

• Do the things they enjoy doing for as long as they can or want to

• Be included in decisions that affect them

• Make plans for the future – Power of Attorney, Advance Statements, etc

• Be seen as a person in their own rightExperiencing Dementia

Healthy living helps reduce your risk of developing dementia -

• Exercise

• Health eating

• Socialising

• Keeping your brain active
