1 Introduction

1.1 About the document

The Software Change Notice describes the prerequisites, resolved PARs, applicable nodes, and

steps to install/uninstall the patch. Additionally, the SCN contains information about the change

impact and additional information for this patch. The latest version of this SCN is always

available on the Honeywell Process Solutions website.

1.2 About the patch

This patch addresses problems and offers improvements requested since the release of

Experion PKS R500.2. These fixes will be included in point release R500.3. It is recommended

to move to this once it is available.

1.2.1 Problems resolved

This patch resolves the following issues.

1-8PGFB5B Station Popups/Faceplates

Unable to use FindPopup method to get an open popup window.

1-92BWSY5 Station Popups/Faceplates

A popup containing a full trend object may come up blank on some occasions.

1-95BB2DF Station Alarm light stops working after a Console Station server failover.

1-96GLMYD Station OnResponse event does not get fired if oncalloutresponse event is not defined.

1.3 Before you begin

1.3.1 Prerequisites

The patch must be installed on a node on which the following updates are installed:

Experion PKS R500.2 (with or without Experion PKS R500.2 HMIWeb Patch 1 or 2)

1.3.6 Verify the present version on the node

To confirm the installed version, check the file ProductVersion.txt located under:

<Install Path>\Honeywell\Experion PKS\

Launch Station and invoke the menu Help About. The current version should be 6.8.102.116

or 6.8.102.119.

1.3.7 Copying and extracting the patch

Using 7Zip (or a similar software), extract the software patch package to a temporary directory

on the node where install is applicable. The temporary folder should contain:

2 Patch installation

ATTENTION

Installation of this patch on server nodes requires Experion Server to be stopped.

No view or control of the process may be available during the installation unless

redundant servers are being used.

2.1 Installing the patch on all applicable nodes

2.1.1 To Stop the Services

Perform the following steps to stop all services manually. a) If using redundant servers, ensure that the servers are synchronized. b) Choose Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS. c) Right-click Experion PKS Services Control Panel tool and then click Run as

Administrator. d) Select the Stop all Services option and click OK.

ATTENTION

On systems with redundant servers, perform this on backup server first and then

synchronise system and then fail over the system and install on the new backup.

2.1.2 To install the patch

a) Ensure all copies of Station and HMIWeb Display Builder, Internet Explorer and SafeView are closed.

b) From the directory that the updated software was extracted to run Experion PKS R500.2 HMIWeb Patch 3.exe with administrative privileges.

c) A window may appear asking for confirmation to apply the patch. Click OK to install the patch.

The patch should install without any further user interaction in a few minutes

2.1.3 To validate the patch installation

Invoke Station menu Help About. The version displayed should be 6.8.102.5119.

2.1.4 Post-installation tasks

After successful installation, the files extracted for installation are no longer needed. Delete the temporary folder and its files. Perform the following steps to stop all services manually.

a) Choose Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS. b) Right-click Experion PKS Services Control Panel tool and then click Run as

Administrator. c) Select the Start all Services option and click OK.

3 Patch removal

3.1 Removing the patch from all applicable nodes

3.1.1 To Stop the Services

Perform the following steps to stop all services manually. a) If using redundant servers, ensure that the servers are synchronized. b) Choose Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS. c) Right-click Experion PKS Services Control Panel tool and then click Run as

Administrator. d) Select the Stop all Services option and click OK.

ATTENTION

On systems with redundant servers, perform this on backup server first and then

synchronise system and then fail over the system and remove from the new backup.

3.1.2 To uninstall the patch

a) Ensure all copies of Station and HMIWeb Display Builder, Internet Explorer and SafeView are closed.

b) From Start Menu Honeywell, invoke Maintenance tool with Administrative Privileges. c) In the maintenance window, click View/Uninstall Experion updates. d) Find the entry for Experion PKS R500.2 HMIWeb Patch 3 and click Remove button.

The patch should get removed and revered to previously installed version without any further

user interaction in a few minutes

Builder and HMIWeb Components version 6.8.102.5119.
