t long last it is time for the annual Friends of the Library Bake Sale! The two-day event kicks off on Friday, November 22

at 10:00am inside the Lawrenceburg Public Library. Head to the fireplace to find tables groaning with fruit pies, decorated cakes, savory breads and more – all freshly baked and ready for quick pick up prior to the arrival of holiday company and weekend festivities.

On Saturday, November 23, head to the North Dearborn Branch where a terrific assortment of seasonal breads, chocolate dipped pretzels and more than enough homemade cookies to feed a crowd will be available from 10:00am-2:00pm.

If you’d like to celebrate the season while supporting the library, you are more than welcome to put your skills to work! If you love to bake, why not whip up a batch or two of cookies to donate? If shopping is your thing, then how easy is it to pick up a cake or pie to drop off for the sales? If you enjoy meeting new people, what could be more people-friendly than spending a couple of hours with Friends selling fresh baked goodness? And if you love social media, how’d you like to promote the bake sale on your personal blog, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.?

Support & Celebrate! It’s 1-2-3 simple:

1) Contact the Friends of the Library if you’d like to be hands-on with setting up for the sale; with pitching in on the day of the sales behind the tables or behind the scenes, and/or with breaking downand cleaning up at the end of the sales. We’ll be sure to get back to you ASAP with information and answers to your questions.

2) Everyone who is donating home-baked or store-fresh baked goods in disposable containers to the sale at either library can just drop the goodies off at the Lawrenceburg Public Library on Thursday, November 21 before 7:30pm. We will be delighted to receive sweets as well as savories – and a few notes about specialingredients, possible allergens, or even a recipe card would be wonderful additions!

3) And what would a bake sale be without the dedicated assistance of cake consumers, bread buyers, cookie crunchers, and pie patrons? The funds raised during these two bake sales are vital for the Friends’ mission – that is, supporting the effortsof your public library. So everyone is invited and encouraged to stop by one or both sales to invest in our community – one delicious bite at a time!

Oh, and if you’d like more information about joining the Friends of the Library for the very first time or renewing your membership for the tenth time, please visit:www.lpld.lib.in.us/friends-of-the-library

Thank you for your support and for your patronage! We’re looking forward to seeing you on November 21, 22, and 23!

But when the school faces an audit, Marion pulls piles of rubber-banded cash from their basement hiding places and flees, leaving her family to grapple with the repercussions of her actions.LPL: Monday, November 25, 10:30- 11:45am

Indianapolisby Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic

This month we’ll discuss the riveting story of the worst sea disaster in U.S. Naval history. On July 30, 1945 – days after the atomic bombs were dropped over Japan – the U.S.S. Indianapolis was sailing alone in the center of the Philippine Sea when struck by Japanese torpedoes. For the next five nights and four days the men battled injuries, sharks, dehydration, insanity, and eventually, each other.LPL: Wednesday, November 20, 10:00am- 12:00pm

“The Public”An act of civil disobedience turns into a standoff with police when homeless people in Cincinnati take over the public library to seek shelter from the bitter cold. “The Public” refers both to the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County, where most of the story takes place, and to the larger public, the individuals and the idea of the public good or the public interest.
