• The BEngTech Programme is under the Faculty of EDICT(Engineering , Design and ICT).

• The aim of the programme is to provide students with acomprehensive set of skills for employment as EngineeringTechnologists.

• The priority is to produce graduates who are competent,work-ready, adaptable and committed to team work and life-long learning.

• Tutors come from many countries including Bahrain, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, India, Greece, Cyprus.

At the start of the second year, students select their major and any elective courses required. Engineering English courses continue to the end of the second year.

During the third and fourth years students can apply their fundamental knowledge of Engineering to advanced courses related to their major.

There are two majors in the BEngTech Programme: Electronics and Mechanical

8

• BEngTech students concentrate on applying their technical skills and knowledge to solve real world problems in an increasingly hands-on manner.

•Final Year Project - students independently develop an engineering product suggested by the tutors or an engineering company.

•Work Placement - students are required to complete 80 days of approved work placement while working for an organization in Bahrain.

Electronics deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, and associated passive interconnection technologies.

Page 10: Explore BEng

10

• The behaviour of active components and their ability to control electron flows makes amplification of weak signals possible and electronics is widely used in information processing, telecommunications, and signal processing.

• The ability of electronic devices to act as switches makes digital information processing possible.

•Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of engineering, physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

•It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools.

Page 15: Explore BEng

15

• The mechanical engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and materials science.

• Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product life-cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, and others.
