•AFS Started in 1990 as a volunteer effort
•City of Santa Barbara provided a hangar on
airport property in 1992
•Umbrella agreement with the Santa
Barbara County Education Office in 1992
• Tax-exempt status in 1993
• Waste Prevention Award from CRRA in 1994
• Joined Community Environmental Council in 1995
• Moved into 302 E. Cota in 1997
• Disengaged from CEC in 2006
• Awarded Watershed Resource Center in 2009
