Camp setup is allowed on Wednesday only except by special permission of the FCF Territorial Rep. Wednesday setup will allow Thursday to be a full day of Rendezvous. We want to emphasize primitive frontier camping. No visible plastics/modern stuff. Hide your coolers and things or cover them with hides or blankets.

Selling and Trading - Those interested in setting up a tent or selling from a blanket in a central location are welcome to do so. Or you can sell/trade from your lodge. This will all be done informally. Everyone will be asked to donate an item for the missions auction as they are led. Remember, there are likely many new members with an interest in bas ic FCF paraphernalia. Young bucks just getting started come expecting. Old timers like quality things, too.

SCOUT SELECTIONS - National and Territorial scouts will be selected. Each Chapter is responsible to submit the applications for their Chapter's Scou t and As s i s t an t Scou t by S e p t e m b e r 1 . U s e t h e S c o u t Nominating Form in the current

Officer's Notebook. Include a picture. Selection will use the new skills process.

* Chapter Presidents need to submit the forms by September 1 or the scout candidate will not be eligible.

COMPETITIVE EVENTS AND CHAPTER RESPONSIBILITES:

Hawk........Lewis & Clark Knife......... Rough Rider Black Powder............ Davy Crocket Flint/Steel................Hugh Glass Seneca Walk.........North Star Archery........Chippewa Chapters should plan their event

and make it exciting and authentic. Some events may have some new variations but will involve the basic frontier skills.

Prizes will be

provided by each

chapter for their event

Other Events - There will be other contests, planned and spontaneous. Chapters can sponsor special events or make challenges. Just clear it through the Territorial Rep. on site. There’ll be plenty of chances to show off shooting skills. Bring plenty of lead and powder.

Blackpowder – Shooter’s cards are required for all shooting. Only flintlocks or percussion muzzle loading single shot long guns with open sights allowed. No handguns or modern guns should be brought to camp. There will be a pole shoot for chapter teams (cut ‘er down man).

Archery – Use long bows, self bows, recurves, anything but compounds. Use wooden arrows with field points. Finger release only; no sights. Primitive bows will be graded higher. You may be able to borrow one.

Food and Fellowship – We’ll all eat together Friday evening for a dessert potluck before the evening service. This is the time to bring something special to share with old friends and maybe make some new ones. Cook up what yer proud of !

MISSION AUCTION - Everyone is encouraged to bring items for the FCF mission fundraiser auction. We’ll have a special project identified for this benefit.

Blacksmithing – Plans are to have a supervised forge area to give young bucks and old timers a chance to see and do some iron work. Any smithy’s who want to bring a portable forge and blacksmith coal, you are welcome to demonstrate your trade and teach a young buck.

Firewood/Water - Available courtesy of the Davy Crocket Chapter at designated sites. Some cutting may be necessary. Camp stoves may be a useful contingency. If it is dry, open fire bans are possible. Good water on site. We will have ice available for purchase to avoid trips to town.

We want everyone to be safe and c o m e p re p a re d . T h i s ye a r s Rendezvous site is the Sunstream Retreat Center in Ogden, IA. We will be camping primitive style, but showers and restrooms wil l be available.

The site is in the center side of the state of Iowa. It will be an easy drive for all of us so plan ahead and take the opportunity to overnight in a local church coming up and going back to save on expenses if necessary.

The address of the site is: 1130 Juneberry Rd., Ogden, IA 50212

It is accessible by car, horse or canoe (takes a little longer), so plan your route.

Family and friends can make their own arrangements to camp off site. Only FCF members are allowed to camp on site. Visitation to the rendezvous area will be only during visiting hours. FCF members should plan on staying in the FCF rendezvous area except for special circumstances. Assemblies, except for awards are only for members.

There are special provisions for those Old Timers who need to use cpap machines. Please make a note on you registration form.

Paul Walters first joined Royal Rangers in 1968 as a Pioneer in Outpost 14, Catlett, VA.  He joined FCF in 1976 and earned the Gold Medal of Achievement the following year. He became an Outpost Commander at 18 and has served with outposts in Maryland, Texas, and Delaware. Paul currently serves at Outpost 284, Praise A/G, Newark, DE.

Paul has served in various FCF positions, including Penn-Del District Vice President and Chapter President, the Territorial Representative for the Northeast Region and the National Vice President.

Some of Paul’s most significant accomplishments include numerous Pathfinder mission’s trips. Paul has helped lead 12 Pathfinder trips to various parts of the world and is a member of the National Pathfinders Committee.

Paul comments, “When I received my GMA, I took the charge to always give back more to the Rangers than I have received. I have tried to put this into practice in my Royal Rangers and FCF leadership positions. Growing up as a Royal Ranger, I have seen the benefits of this great ministry in my life. I feel blessed to be called and be a part of it.”

“The mountain men of the fur-traders era, such as Jedediah Strong Smith, were

innovators. They were ahead of their time in the development of the West. I feel we,

as FCF members, are called to be innovators in the Lord’s service. We

shouldn’t just try to portray the mountain men. We should strive to be ahead of our

time as Royal Rangers and FCF members. This will help us to fulfill the purposes of

FCF.”
