This faculty-led study abroad course is designed to give students an opportunity to experience firsthand the unique flora and fauna that have existed on the Galapagos Islands for centuries. Visiting the Galapagos Islands is like walking in the footsteps of noted naturalist, geologist, and biologist, Charles Darwin. Students will participate in a 10-day study tour to the Galapagos Islands where they will engage in learning experiences that explore the geologic formation, human inhabitation and delicate Galapagos ecosystems. • Experience how the residents on the Galapagos Islands live lifestyles that help preserve the natural life and environment. • Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. • See Darwin finches and lava lizards and then take a boat to Floreana Island. • Go to Black-Sand Beach to see the diverse wildlife, unique landscape, plants and the marine life in the waters surronding the Galápagos. • Travel by speed boat to Isabela Island to see the six active volcanoes. • Hike to the rim of Sierra Negra Volcano to see the largest basaltic caldera in the Galápagos.

• Explore the first UNESCO World Heritage Site - Quito’s old town was founded in the 1500s atop Incan ruins. UNESCO touts Quito as having “the best-preserved, least altered historic center in Latin America.”
