Ensure students know what you expect them to learn from the media and for what they are responsible:• Prepare them to learn by using an activity to connect to prior knowledge• Introduce a graphic organizer to help them record and analyze information they see in the media

• Acid Mine Drainage (Grades 6-12)Visit southeastern Kentucky to learn about water pollution from abandoned coal mines and how biologists, hydrologists, chemists, and geologists are reversing its damaging effects.

• Presented on a CD-ROM and the web, this PD supports content presented in the Electronic Field Trip to a Watershed with models of exemplary instruction.• Features Kentucky teachers demonstrating scientific study as well as awareness and prevention of non point source water pollution. • Shows teachers and students engaged in authentic activities, in both indoor and outdoor classrooms and at streams, creeks, and other watersheds.
