    Using the trackpad

Use the Express trackpad to set rates and levels. The trackpad operatesin three modes, single mode, double mode, and XY mode, described

below. You can also set the trackpads sensitivity.

    Trackpad notes:

If you have channels selected from both kinds of link, the trackpaddefaults to double mode.

In double mode you may only set one side at a time.

    Sensitivity

To the left of the trackpad you will find two buttons that control trackpadsensitivity. The top button has a rough texture. Press this to set the track-pad for low sensitivity. The lower button has a smooth texture. Press thisto set the trackpad for high sensitivity. Use high sensitivity for preciselevel or rate adjustments. Use low sensitivity for faster, less preciseadjustments.

    Single mode

Most of the time the trackpad is in single mode. If the con-sole prompts you for a rate or a level, moving your finger

up on the trackpad increases the rate or level. Moving itdown decreases the rate or level.

    Double mode

If you use the Link List function to link two or more chan-nels and then select any linked channel, the trackpadautomatically switches into double mode. In double modethe trackpad is divided into two regions, The left side con-trols channels in the X half of the link (colored gold on thedisplay). The right side controls channels in the Y half ofthe link (colored yellow on the display). Move your fingerup or down on either side to control channel levels in thecorresponding link.

    XY mode

If you use the Link List function to link two or more chan-nels and set the links position attribute for XY position.

then select any linked channel with that attribute, thetrackpad automatically switches into XY mode. In XYmode move your finger right or left on the trackpad to con-trol channels in the X half of the link (colored gold on thedisplay). Move your finger up or down to control channelsin the Y half of the link (colored yellow on the display).

    About Show

About Show provides you with memory usage information regarding thecurrently loaded show. It tells you how many channels and dimmers yourshow is configured for, and how many of the available cues, submasters, groups, and macros you are using. It also indicates the percentage of theconsoles available memory used for each function.

If you fill the availablememory, you can reclaim it by clearing cues, groups, subs, macros, orevents that you are no longer using.

    The Memory left

indicator shows you how much console memory is stillavailable to record additional functions. Express allows you to record up to

600 cues, 500 groups, and 2,000 macros as available memory permits.

If you are patching dimmers in a Strand CD80 dimmer rack, see page 34for special instructions.

Before patching, be certain that the system settings reflect the totalnumber of available dimmers and channels. See Chapter 3, Enteringsystem settings, on page 14 for information on setting the number of dim-mers and channels.
