In spring, Reno-Tahoe offers the perfect antidote to the winter blahs, with clear blue skies, sparkling water and crisp mountain air. Grab your kayak and go one-on-one against nature, or shoot the rapids of the Truckee River Whitewater Park. The crystal-clear waters are perfect, too, for fly-fishing; coax rainbow trout in a quiet bend of the stream, or go for cutthroat around Pyramid Lake. Prefer dry land? We’ve got 26 summits waiting to be explored. Blaze your own trail – on foot or by mountain bike. And if your idea of adventure is a bit more civilized, we offer more than 50 spectacular golf courses within 90 miles – 12 championship courses in Tahoe alone. Here’s where the big boys come to play, on links designed by the very best, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones. And since balls fly off the club 10% farther at our altitude, you’ll take your play to a whole new level. Still have energy left? We’ve got the Reno River Festival, Reno Jazz Festival, and a host of other

special events. Come on out and play!

Here’s where the whole world comes outside to play.

Summertime, and the days are at their longest. Still, you’ll have trouble fitting everything in. Under the brilliant western sun, Lake Tahoe draws en-thusiasts from around the world. Parks, marinas and recreation areas line its 72-mile perimeter, offering ac-commodation and near-perfect conditions for boaters, water skiers, swimmers and wakeboarders alike. Here the Mastercraft Pro Wakeboard Tour brings the best of the best, while the cloudless skies beckon hang gliders, parasailers, skydivers and hot air balloonists. And with everyone in a festive mood, we offer one spectacular event after another. Reno and Lake Tahoe are centers for the arts, and summer welcomes the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Artown (month long arts festival), the Reno-Tahoe Blues Fest and the Lake Tahoe Music Festival. Indulge your taste for the good life at the Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Festival, or experience the unique thrills of the Great Reno Balloon Race and the world-famous Reno Rodeo. With only a 3-hour drive around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe, a must see is the beautiful Emerald Bay near South Lake.

And when the sun finally sets, the fun continues.

From clubs and cabarets to theater and ballet, from elegant dining to high-energy casinos, the

nights are as brilliant as the days.

With so much to see and do, even the sky is no limit. PERFECT

Fall brings a new sense of excitement. Maybe it’s the blaze of red and gold, or the scent of change on the crisp alpine air. Whatever the reason, this is the perfect time to explore farther afield. Mount up for a ride along historic trails. Hike to extraordinary sunset views. Or test your endurance in world-class rock climbing and mountaineering.

Looking to go farther? Then step back in time, at the area’s museums and historic sites. Live the romance of the west in Virginia City, America’s largest designated historical district—and home, each fall, to the International Camel Races. Or visit Grimes Point and other sites in the area, where petroglyphs and granite carvings have stood for more than 10,000 years.

Special annual events draw visitors from around the world, like the Great Reno Balloon Race, National

Championship Air Races, Burning Man, Genoa Candy Dance, Street Vibrations and Big Blue Adventure Race.

But there’s also the relaxed charm of the Great Italian Festival, along with the red-carpet allure of the Tahoe/Reno International Film Festival. Indoors or out, the adventure never stops.

As the colors turn, adventure waits on every horizon.

Best of all, there’s something for every level, from beginners to advanced thrill-seekers and extreme sport enthusiasts. Our varied terrain offers superb downhill skiing, as well as cross-country and backcountry ski trails. Winter brings a host of special events, from Winterfest and the Snowfest to the Winter Blue

Adventure Race. And be sure to join us for the holi-days, with all the magic of the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights. Whatever the season, you’ll find

In the span of an afternoon, you can dig up the dirt on the area’s past “sin solutions” during the throes of the Great Depression to the ancient rock art drawings of native peoples. Humans have lived in the Great Basin for at least 10,000 years. Paleo-Indians were the first inhabitants followed by the Washoe, Northern Paiute, Southern Paiute and Western Shoshone tribes. Several petroglyph sites are located off Hwy. 50. Grimes Point, is the most important located about 50 miles from Reno and an easy day trip.

Cattle ranches were established in the 1850s in the Carson Valley. Sheep raising followed. These cowboys and ranchers were integral to the flood of prospectors on the Comstock Trail, providing meat, fruit and vegetables in exchange for silver and gold. Carson City and Virginia City were important centers to the Comstock Lode and today provide visitors with museums, historical sites, antiques and shopping for native arts and crafts.

Many notable journeys have traversed through Nevada. From the path of the pioneers and Washoe, to Truckee’s old wagon road where the Donner party met its ill-fate and the 40-mile Emigrant Trail through the unforgiving desert to modern tourists following the trail of fortune in Reno-Tahoe casinos and bars.

History buffs can polish their need for adventure here.

When the sun goes down in Reno-Tahoe, the action heats up. And no matter how full your day has been, you’ll find even more adventure at night.

From traditional reel to the newest multi-game videos, our slot machines offer a world of exciting play. You’ll find it all, with themes and games like blackjack, poker and keno. Test your luck at nickel payback, or stake it all on multi-million dollar progressive jackpots.
