BPHE Society’s Centre for Studies in Rural Development Institute of Social Work and Research, Ahmednagar Extension Activities Report: 2015-16 A distinctive feature of the instruction programmes offered at the Institute is the emphasis on outreach and extension work. The Institute through its faculty and students undertakes outreach and extension work. This work is well integrated with academic curricula as fieldwork has been given a weightage of one third. The content of the fieldwork and the field work assignments are planned in an orderly sequence of learning and they are designed in such a way that there is continuity with the extension programmes of the institute. The student’s task is planned in such a way that the community gets benefit from their intervention. Several rural development, extension activities and field action projects have been undertaken by the Institute in the past which included, social education and awareness building programmes, social forestry, agriculture and water management programme, rural health and sanitation, food for work, watershed development programme, child care and family welfare etc. As a part of extension activities the Institute had undertaken the following projects in 2015: I. Community Organization Activities: The Institute is engaged in facilitating community organization process through its faculty and students. The faculty and students are organizing various programmes and small projects to help various groups in community. As a part of extension activities the Institute has undertaken the following projects: a. Vasundhara Watershed Management Project The Institute is being selected as Project Training organization for creating awareness and capacity building training programmes under Integrated Watershed Development Programme supported by Agriculture Department

Extension Activities Report: 2015-16 A distinctive feature of the instruction programmes offered at the Institute is the

Govt. of Mahrashtra. Under this programme the Institute arranged the Study

Tour visits to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramati for the Farmers of 06 villages in

Nagar and Parner Block. Total 300Farmers participated in the exposure visit.

The Institute is organizing training programme on “Role of Watershed

Committee Members and Villagers in IWMP Programme during

implementation phase”.

b. Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana

Parliament of India has asked all the Member of Parliament’s to implement

programme model village upto year 2016 in their respective constituency under

Adarsh Gram VikasYojana. The Institute has conducted Micro-planning

process developed and village development plan of Kambi and Malunja

villages and the same has been submitted to District Planning Office,

Ahmednagar.

c. Child Guidance and Counselling Centre at Anand Sadan

Anand Sadan as an urban extension project has been developed as centre for

conducting various community outreach programmes of CSRD. At present

activities at Anand Sadan include non formal education in the form of remedial

and supplementary coaching to school dropouts and school going children of

the neighbourhood, home visits for counselling the parents, life skills training

for the adolescent and youth, personality development programmes, cultural

and sports activities for the children.

II. Village Micro-Planning

In order to provide skills of participatory village planning to students the

institute conducted village micro-planning during 7th to 10th October 2015. It

has created a platform for student social workers to learn and extend their

knowledge and skills to village communities. The villages Deogaon and

Ranjhani were selected for this purpose. The village community benefitted

from this process.

III. Dr. Ambedkar Social Equality Week: 8th to 14th April 2015

The Institute celebrated Dr. Ambedkar Social Equality Week from 8th April,

2015 to 14th April 2015 in Ahmednagar. The Socia Equality Week was

inaugrated on 8th April at the Institute. On 9th,loan was advanced to the

deserving under different schemes. On the 10tha workshop on was organised in

coordination with media persons and district information officer. On 11th April

a blood donation camp was organized at CSRD. On 12th April a cleaniliness

drive was organised in selected areas of Ahmednagar. On 13th April a meeting

was held in Shrimonda Panchayat Samiti Coomunity Hall, where activists,

intellectuals, academicians, journalists, related to the anti-caste movement were

invited. The Social Equality week culminated on 14th April at the Zilla Parishad

Auditorium with the celebration of Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

IV. Camp in Pimpri Gavli Village

CSRD-ISWR organized a Rural Development Study Camp in Pimpri Gavli village of Parner block from 4th October to 10th October, 2015. The students and faculty of MSW conducted various activities throughout the Rural Camp. Acitivities like spreading awareness on Rural Development, awareness on schemes, policies and acts,

tree plantation, community organization and group discussions were held. The village benefitted from this camp.

V. Rally on World AIDS Day: 1st April 2015

The students of CSRD took part in a rally on World AIDS Day to spread awareness about the disease in the city. The aim of the rally was to distribute infomration regarding AIDS and remove the stigma attached to persons suffering with AIDS. The students presented a street play for AIDS awareness. The participants of the rally, including the university students, Superintendent of Police Shri. Pankaj Deshmukh, staff members and faculty, and other participants took oath for spreading awarness regrading HIV/AIDS.
