Information about learning in Year 3
The Home/School Partnership Curriculum Newsletter Autumn Term 2 2015
We had lots of questions about the mysterious eggs that appeared in our classroom. We
wanted to find out what might hatch so we learnt about animals that reproduce by laying
eggs. As the eggs were very large, we thought our creatures could be very big. We had a
great time building nests to protect the eggs in the forest area. We watched and waited for
our eggs to hatch—Guess what? They were baby dinosaurs! How ‘eggciting’!
During this theme, we will be learning about Dinosaurs. We
will learn about the time period when the dinosaurs lived and
some of the explanations about why they became extinct.
Linked to this theme, we will use our science investigation
skills to learn about fossils and how we use them to under-
stand more about the dinosaurs, for example how their claws
can tell us what the may have dinosaurs eaten. We will be
creating a collaborative dinosaur sculpture and reading short
novels by the author Dick-King Smith.
