What is Eye Donation?

Nothing but simple self motivation and willing to restore the sight to the blinds.Inform all your family members about your willing & to contact the nearest eye bank immediately after your end of life.Eye will be enucleated only after deathBut can be pledged today for eye Donation.

Why should eyes be donated ?There is no substitute for human tissue. The transplantation process depends upon the priceless gift of corneal donation from one human to another. Donated eyes are also needed for research & education.manoj

Who can Donate their Eyes Any one can donate his eyes after death ( Except some infective diseases.)* Age,Sex,* Religion/cast,* Spectacles, * Cataract Operation,* High/Low blood pressure, Blood group,etc are not bar to Donate Eyes.

The great thing about corneal tissue is that everyone is a universal donorYour blood types does not have to match.It does not matter, how old are you, what color your eyes are, or how good your eyesight is.

Is the whole eye transplanted ?No, only the corneas can be transplanted. The entire eye may be used for research and education.manoj

What is cornea ? The cornea is eyes outermost transparent tissue layer, dome shaped surface that covered the front of the eye. What is corneal Blindness ? When the cornea became cloudy, light cannot penetrate the light sensitive retina. The person became poor vision or blind. manoj

How can donate my eyes ?

Fill up the pledge Form.Signature it .Put family / next kins Signature.Submit it to eye bank.

Inform all about your eye donation.

Eye Bank Will Issue you the Donor Card,Keep it with you.

Inform all your family members and friends about your Eye donation,DBRS

If a Donor has signed a donor card, how can be sure that his wishes regarding donation will be respected ? Tell your next of kin. Talk your family or guardian and friends about donation and make sure they know your wishes. Next-of-kin co operation is required before enucleating. So, it is helpful if your family and friend know how you feel about eye donation. What a Donor have to do for eye donation after death ? Immediate ring to the nearest eye bank after death . Collect the death certificate of willing donor. Made available the next-of-kin to give consent for eye donation.

After enucleating of Donor Eyes from diseased person after death, The following certificate given to the family member of Eye donor.DBRS

Burning cost of the eye donors body in the electric furnace at Birbhanpur will be considered as free.

Is there any delay in funeral arrangements ? No, Eye tissue procurement is performed within 4-6 hours of death/ or within short after inform by donors family. So, family may proceed with funeral arrangements without delay/interruption. Will eye donation affect the appearance of the donors face ? No, great care is taken to preserve the donors appearance.manoj

What is corneal transplant ?A corneal transplant or grafting involves replacing diseased or scarred cornea with a new one. Is it essential to pledge eyes before death? No, any one willing to donate the eyes of the diseased person, may donate it immediately after death, only the consent of next of kin is needed.
