Home Learning Challenges
Draw 20 simple shapes on a piece of paper.
Number the shapes from 10 to 20. Place a
toy onto a numbered shape and ask a friend
or grown-up to tell you the number. Were
they correct? Can they place the toy on a
numbered shape for you to identify?
Go on a number hunt! What numbers can
you see around your house or on your way
to school? You could look at door numbers,
number plates, on food packets, clocks or in
magazines and books. You could take photos
or draw pictures of the numbers you find.
Can you find the numerals 10, 11, 12, 13,
14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20?
Look at the numbers on this page. What
numbers can you see? Can you find the
number 10? What about the numbers 11,
12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20?
In a shop, look at some birthday cards.
What numbers can you see? Can you find

Ask a grown-up to write

Method1. Fill the small bowls with water, then
add a different food colouring to
each. The more food colouring you
add, the darker the colour will be.
2. Fill your large glass or vase
up to about 2/3 full.
3. Squirt a generous amount of
shaving foam on top of the
water to create a ‘cloud’.
4. Drop small amounts of coloured
water onto the ‘cloud’ using
the pipette or syringe.

1 Draw around the flower head
template onto yellow card, then
cut out.
2 Paint the segment of egg box
yellow or orange, then leave to
dry.
3 Stick the egg segment to the
middle of the flower using white
glue. Then add a strip of green
card to create a stem.
4 Once dry, the daffodil can be hung
or displayed on a wall.

You will need:• 4 plastic milk bottle tops• Strong corrugated card

and fold them in half. Cut each end into a curved shape.
2. Glue a bottle top on the inside of each end so that when the carboard is squeezed together, the bottle tops make a clicking (castanet) sound.
3. Decorate as desired.

• 2 empty plastic water
bottles with lids
• 2 cardboard tubes
• Electrical tape
• Small items to
make the sound,
such as pebbles,
birdseed, rice, beans,
small beads, etc.

Instructions
1. Pour your chosen ‘noisy’ items into each water
bottle. If you choose two different resources
for each bottle, you will get slightly different
sounds.
2. Test how the bottles sound by shaking each
one. Screw the lids on tightly.
3. Carefully, cut each cardboard tube straight
down its length.
4. Roll the tube in on itself to make a tight
handle for your maracas.
5. Tape this handle on to your bottle (lid end).
6. Tape the cardboard tube all the way along its
length to ensure a strong handle.
