CARL C. ANDERSON

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public service of the late Honorable Carl C. Anderson, begs leave to subl1lit the following memorial:

Carl C. Anderson was born in Sweden, June .8, 1873, and passed away at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, on September 29, 1954. He received his early schooling in the rural schools of Sweden.

Mr. Anderson came to the United States in 1890 and worked as a fa rm laborer in Mills County.

He was naturalized and cast his first vote for president in 1896.

In 1901, Mr. Anderson bought a farm in Montgomery County and was a resident of that county for more than fifty years.

Mr. Anderson was married to Miss Mary Jones August 25 , 1897. His wife lo&t her life in an automobile accident April 20, 1914. Surviving him are four daughters and one son.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Forty-first, Forty-second and Forty-second Extra sessions of the General Assembly of Iowa.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Masons, Scottish Rite Masons and was a member of the AAA County Committee, acting as chairman for a number of years.

Therefore, Be It Resol.ved by the House of Representatives of the Fiftysixth General Assembly of Iowa: That in the passing of the Honorable Carl C. Anderson, the people of Montgomery County and the entire State of Iowa have sustained a gTeat loss and the House expresses its appreciation of his character and public service and tenders, by this resolution, it sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his beloved family in their great sorrow and loss.

Be It Fw·ther Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the famil y of the deceased.
