Background

We use speech everyday to express our emotions, which is also a form of communication.

Speech does not necessarily involve words said, it also involves how words are being said and all other facial expression presented while taking

To provoke questions about the meaning and effects of speech

To make people aware that speech is expressive

Information is everywhere around us, even when we speak our speech carries our emotion to improve communication

exchange of information, thoughts, ideas and emotions

Understanding emotions is essential for human being to be able to use them to influence people during communication.

The expression of emotions can be crucial in shaping the social interactions of people communicating

DETECTING EMOTIONS FROM FACIAL EXPRESSION

One can communicate their emotions through facial expressions

Examples:

frowning, raising the eyebrow, lip moving

for example, a frowned forehead can indicate anger

BASIC EMOTIONSThere are six basic emotions which are known to be

universal across all cultures and societies [Paul Ekman]

This emotions are:

Happiness

Sadness

Anger

Fear

Surprise

Disgust

IDEA DEVELOPMENTThe installation will be developed basing the

idea on the following:

Emotional color wheel

IDEA DEVELOPMENTFor the images that will be displayed I will not

use a direct object, rather will use abstract shapes and lines to show different emotions

Abstract shapes are not straight forward and will represent emotions as in a unique way

I see emotions a complex thing, which consitss of various feelings and behaviors.

CONTEXTUAL STUDIESPERSONAL

The project is more to personal context, the audience or participants have to express themselves and show their emotions. Through the use of their faces they will show more of their personal character and behaviors. 

SOCIALThis allows audience to be aware of their

emotions and also of the emotions of others participating in the artwork. It gives other users ideas on how their emotions are being perceived by others.

This is based on how different nations express themselves emotionally depending on their cultural background. Also it will show how audiences from other nations will understand emotions that are different from theirs
