ISPs (Internet Service Providers) allowed the public to access the net, and along with access, we got email & web hosting space.   14. 14. Working Online: This Kids Dream The day I got my first job at one of those ISPs in 1996 was a real turning point in my life. Before that I was a Medical Transcriptionist, working in a quiet office, doing the same thing day in and day out. My first day at the ISP, I was put in front of a version of Windows I had never used, given a ringing phone to answer, and told I needed to help these people get online. Then the same thing happened with Social Media sites like Facebook & Twitter. But theres a pretty MAJOR philosophical flaw that goes along with using these strategies as your primary ways of connecting & reconnecting.
