34

Next, we are going to convert the posts that are appearing at the author’s timeline to public,

and to make the plugin work for all the existing authors of the site. Because by default,

whenever a post or page is published, it will appear in the author’s timeline, but only the author

can see it (which is not very useful. And the author of the app is the only one that can use the

plugin.

Go back to the Open Graph tab in your app’s settings and click on the 'Submit' link next to the

new publish action.

A window will pop out asking you to type in the instructions to reproduce the action. Once you

have type in your detailed instructions, press Continue.

I use these lines below for my trigger steps:

1. Go to spbooks.com, login to your wordpress user account (you would login to your own

blog).

2. Go to the Facebook for Wordpress and sync your wordpress user's facebook account with it.

3. Go to Add New Post or Add New Page.

4. Create a New Post or a New Page, provide an entry in the "Facebook Status on Your

Page 35: Facebook For Wordpress User Guide

35

Timeline" field.

5. Press "Publish"

6. The published post or page will now be posted as well on the wordpress user's facebook

timeline.

Next, you will be asked for Optional Properties. Just press Continue to proceed.

You will now be in the Review Submission, just press the Submit for Approval button after you

have reviewed the details.

Page 36: Facebook For Wordpress User Guide

36

Once, submitted you will see your Publish action type being submitted for approval.

Once it gets approved, every post or page that is published by any wordpress author on your

blog, will be available for everyone to so. Also, all authors on your WordPress blog will see a

notification at the top of the admin control panel prompting them to authenticate with

Facebook. Once they do that, all of their new Posts and Pages will post to their Timeline.

Pretty cool.

Finally, make sure the Publish to Author’s Timeline is checked, and press the Save Changes

button below.
