1- How will you get the night vision camera into

the movie theater?

To our surprise, movie theaters have been using night vision cameras for a long

time and substantially developed this practice in the last decade, mainly to

fight piracy . While we could not find numeric data, it is broadly published that a

majority of theater now have these devices monitored by human during moviesto fight piracy and drug traffic.

The only published attempt to use these cameras to track emotions is reported

by Dr. Farooq in 2007 through the creation of “The Machine Vision Lab” at the

University of West England. The Lab partnered in 2009 with Aralia Systems

through a £215,000 grant.

Aralia Technologies focuses on security applications for Warehouse.

2- Substitutes

•Movie studios are running their own focus groups: these focus groups rely on

people debriefing with a marketing expert and express whether they liked/disliked some part of a movie. If the marketer sees a trend emerge, movie is

sent back to shooting.

issues : negative bias (people remember better negative stimuli),

memory lapse (big discrepancies between start & end of movie)

•Neurocinema : MRI-based technic to monitor blood activity in subjects’ brain

 while watching a trailer

issues : blood flows have to be interpreted to infer emotions; We ARE

measuring emotions directly.

3- Revenue Model

- Usage/Subscription Fee : Let the studios & other customers use our

platform to generate reports. We position ourself as an abstraction layer

of face.com and allow customers to generate semantics out of videos.

- Licensing : revenue sharing model with face.com

- Servicing : studios & customers provide us with video footage of

audiences and we deliver comprehensive semantics reports. This model

will shift if we have to take care of the videos collection in movie

theaters / events venues.
